Atticus didn't waste a moment of the flight. He thought furiously through all he had seen of the Underworlds. He knew that he was making the most important decision of his life- though perhaps his afterlife would be more accurate.
In Hades, he had been reminded of a home that he had loved dearly in life. The fields mirrored those outside his city growing up and the very smell of the air made him homesick. For all this love of home, though, it saddened him to know it was not really his home and it scared him to think that he may spend eternity punished in Tartarus.
In the Norse Underworld, he had been bewildered by the wildness and rough nature but found some comfort in the purpose Valhalla and Folkvangr offered for eternity. Though he was not a big fan of the cold or the prospect of having to spend eternity in chilly Hel.
In Mictlān, Atticus spent more time dazed than lucid. The sheer chaos and unpredictable nature of the place had scared him at first, but the idea of knowing one's fate held some strange comfort. He didn't necessarily like the idea of oblivion, but there were no questions there to fret over.
In the Yanyuwa Underworld, something unfamiliar was offered. Worst case, it gave him both peace and restlessness simultaneously. Best case, he was given rebirth instead of that restlessness and kept the peace. He didn't know exactly what that meant or what it looked like, but it was certainly intriguing.
He had just finished these thoughts and Thanatos sat him down in front of the familiar door. When Thanatos opened it, however, it opened into an unfamiliar space. The crowded little room was lined with metal cabinets labeled in dozens of languages. A massive desk was cluttered with dog toys and clipboards. The same dim lights which had hung in the waiting room lined the walls of the office also. Without a word, Thanatos walked to his chair, pulled out his clipboard and started taking a few notes. Atticus found a chair in the mess and took a seat.
After far too short a time, Thanatos looked up and stared at Atticus. "It's time Atticus, what have you decided?"
