Scholar's Bowl is a Jeopardy-like trivia game that tests your knowledge on almost everything from history to art to video games to math! Both middle school and high school have Scholar's Bowl competitions and clubs that rising 6th graders and rising high school freshmen respectively can participate in! Scholar's Bowl is a great way to expand your knowledge, get you prepped for future AP classes, and connect with a community of people like you!
If you are a rising 6th-8th grader:
-Students who don't know how to play Scholar's Bowl will first learn the fundamental rules (how to play, how to correctly answer, how to buzz in, the correct etiquette for working with teammates, etc...)
-Then, members of the high school Varsity Scholar's Bowl team will teach students Scholar's Bowl Fundamentals that you "have to know" for competitive Middle School Scholar's Bowl. These include famous authors, famous historical figures, and countries and capitals.
-We will also play tons of rounds of Scholar's Bowl, make flashcards, and go over ways to study during the school year!
If you are a rising high school freshman:
-Members of the high school Varsity Scholar's Bowl team will go over concepts you "have to know" for JV Scholar's Bowl at the high school level since the transition from middle school to high school Scholar's Bowl is a huge jump!
-We will also teach students the best ways to study, play tons of rounds of Scholar's Bowl, and make piles upon piles of flashcards that you can use throughout the school year!
Hello! My name is Louis Johnson, and I have been playing Quiz Bowl since I was in the 6th grade. I got into it because my older sister played it, and I have loved every part of it ever since. I am the all time leading scorer from the Discovery Middle School team, and in 7th grade, I was part of the team that, with Karsten as our captain, placed 8th at Nationals in Chicago! I cannot wait to teach and help the new generation of quiz bowlers, and I hope they can grow and become even better than I ever will be!

My name is Karsten Wallace. I have been involved in the Scholar's community since I was a 5th grader when my Gifted Education teacher introduced me to it and had us compete against West Madison Elementary! I instantly fell in love with the game and the people involved! In 6th Grade, I was the State MVP for the Scholar's Bowl Elementary Division and in 8th grade, my team and I placed 8th at Nationals in Chicago! Currently, I am the Varsity Scholar's Bowl Team Captain at Bob Jones High School! I hope that Summer Scholars inspires kids who love to learn to get involved in one of the things that has made my middle school and high school life so special!
