Summer Drama is a program through the Point Pleasant Recreation Center where your child will grow and learn through improvisation, dance and storybook theater. Each class day children will engage in exercises to explore several acting techniques. The games and exercises enhance learning and work towards a greater comfort and confidence on stage. In addition to exercises and learning, children will apply what they have learned into a final production at the conclusion of the program. (please note: If you have already scheduled a family vacation at the time of the final performance, this will not affect your child’s learning experience. We do not facilitate our program around the show!)
Snack:
Drama Camp Please pack a small snack and a water for your child each day. (Please inform staff immediately of any allergies your child may have. Some birthdays fall during the program and children occasionally bring in treats.)
*UPDATE* Musical Theater Camp "A Whole New World" will have snack this year! Please pack a small snack and a water for your child. (Please inform staff immediately of any allergies your child may have. Some birthdays fall during the program and children occasionally bring in treats.)
Dress Code: Children will be playing and moving, so please be sure to have them dressed in light, comfortable clothes. Please no flip flops, or backless sandals. For the safety of the children we encourage sneakers or sandals with a secure back strap.
Security: For safety purposes each child will be dismissed to parents one by one. If you are permitting your child to leave independently, please communicate that with staff via a written note or email.
Please have your child arrive and depart on time so we can start on time. Be advised that the “Late Pick Up” Policy will be strictly enforced with late fees being due on the date of the actual occurrence, in addition to your child missing out on fundamental aspects of camp for our final performance, due to the shortened time period.
Please inform staff of any anticipated late arrivals or early departures. Also, if there will be someone different than the regular parent or caregiver picking up your child, please inform any member of the staff.
Auditions: For your child’s final performance, roles will be distributed based on attendance and participation in class.
T-shirts: Performance t-shirts will be distributed on THURSDAY (7/16 or 7/23). The students will be wearing the t-shirts for the final day of class, along with their final performance. These t-shirts are yours to keep.
