Sum-thing: Math Link Puzzle — Support

Match-3, except the balls are not matched by colour. Every ball carries a number, the game asks a question, and you draw a path across touching balls whose numbers answer it.

How to play

The bar above the board shows a question with blanks, such as ? + ? = 13. Press a ball and drag across balls that touch each other until the numbers you have picked answer the question, then let go. A correct chain explodes, the balls above fall into the gap, and a new question appears. A wrong chain just flashes red — nothing is lost.

Letting go part-way through a drag cancels it. It is not counted as a wrong answer.

The first time you open the game it starts a round with a short walkthrough on top of it. The clock is held while the walkthrough is up, and it ends the moment you clear your first chain. It does not come back.

Difficulty

Pick a mode on the home screen. Each mode has its own levels and its own best score.

Mode

Intended for

Arithmetic

Little Kid

ages 4–7

single-digit addition

Tweens

ages 8–12

two-digit addition, subtraction later on

Adult

no mercy

three-digit numbers, subtraction and multiplication

God

good luck

the Adult ramp with the brakes off, four-digit balls

Changing mode always starts a new run. The balls on screen were built from the numbers of the mode you were playing, so they cannot carry over.

Scoring

The time bonus becomes score. It is never added to the clock — the clock resets to the same value at the start of each level.

How a run ends

There is exactly one way to lose: the balls reach the top of the frame. When a new batch pours in and there is no room for it, the run is over.

Running out of time is not a loss. You lose the time bonus and the next batch of balls arrives early, that is all. But since the board is never cleared for you, missing the clock over and over is what eventually fills the frame.

Ads and the Remove Ads purchase

The game is free and shows a banner ad at the bottom of the screen. Remove Ads is a one-time purchase that takes the banner away for good.

You can buy it from Options → REMOVE ADS, or from the REMOVE ADS button that sits just above the banner on the home screen and during a game.

Restoring your purchase

Options → RESTORE PURCHASE.

Remove Ads is tied to the Apple Account that bought it, not to a device. Sign in with that account on a new iPhone or iPad, tap Restore Purchase, and the banner goes away again at no extra charge.

If Restore Purchase does not work:

If it still does not restore, email us with the date of the purchase and we will help you look into it.

Purchases and refunds

Apple handles all billing, and only Apple can issue a refund. We cannot see your payment details and we cannot reverse a charge.

Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, signed in with the Apple Account that was charged.

Leaderboards

The Leaderboard button on the home screen opens the Game Center board for the mode you last played. There is a separate board for each of the four modes.

Your score is submitted when a run ends. Every finished run is submitted, not only your best ones.

If the leaderboard is empty or will not open, you are almost certainly not signed in to Game Center. Open Settings → Game Center and sign in, then reopen the game. Game Center also needs an internet connection.

Your progress and best scores

Best scores and the run you are in the middle of are stored on your device only. There is no account to create and nothing is synced to a server.

That has two consequences worth knowing:

Scores you have posted to a Game Center leaderboard are the exception — those belong to your Apple Account and follow you.

If you quit in the middle of a run, the game reopens on that same run, exactly where you left it. Once a run has ended in GAME OVER, the game opens on the home screen instead.

Sound

Options → SOUND FX, or the same switch inside the pause menu during a game. It is one setting in both places.

Requirements

iPhone and iPad running iOS 15.6 or later. On iPhone the game is portrait only. It works offline apart from ads and leaderboards.

Privacy

The game asks for no account, no sign-in and no personal details in order to be played. It does not use your camera, your microphone or your location.

It shows banner ads served by Google AdMob, and it talks to Apple's Game Center and to the App Store for the Remove Ads purchase. Our privacy policy explains what each of those involves: privacy policy.
