I am currently a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Pennsylvania State University – Harrisburg. My research lies in the area of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), and Reinforcement Learning (RL), with applications in AI Value Alignment and Biomedical AI. My work in AI Value Alignment focuses on combining advanced NLP and multi-modal machine learning with RL to develop AI systems that align with human values and preferences. In Biomedical AI, I study biomedical information extraction—including relation extraction, entity recognition, and question answering; and explore AI applications in healthcare.
Prior to joining Penn State Harrisburg, I was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Institute for Biomedical Informatics at the University of Kentucky. I earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Kentucky.
