Two Hours Until the Ceremony

"I can't do this. I can't do this. I CAN'T do this," Caroline muttered as she paced barefoot back and forth in the bridal suite. It was two hours until she was set to walk down the aisle to meet the love of her life, Michael. They'd known each other for years and she absolutely loved him, but somehow, two hours before they were to marry, she was plagued with doubts. Cold feet. She couldn't believe SHE was getting cold feet. That was a myth, or for people rushing into a marriage. She knew Michael was the one. Why was this happening?

Across the suite, Caroline's best friend and maid of honor, Lauren, was watching her slowly fall apart. Time was ticking down and it was time to call in the big guns. Rushing out of the suite, Lauren went searching the church for Caroline's grandmother, Eleanor, her sister, Isabella, and her mother, Evelyn. Once she gathered them all together outside Caroline's room, she broke the bad news.

"Caro's freaking out. She's in the suite right now getting cold feet. I don't know what's going on with her but we need to do something. I think she just needs a pep talk, but I don't want to overwhelm her. I think it would be best if we each took a turn. Maybe tell her a story. Anything to calm her down."

Everyone readily agreed to Lauren's plan. After some bickering over the order it was decided that Eleanor, Isabella, Lauren, and Evelyn would each go see Caroline one at a time. They decided on a story and a gift for Caroline to help remind her everything was going to be okay.

A soft knock jolted Caroline from her pacing. Startled, she opened the door to find her grandmother standing outside the door.

"Nana? What are you doing here? Did you need something?"

"Oh, Caro, I don't need anything but I heard you might. I know lots of brides get nervous before the big moment so I thought I could keep you company. Maybe tell you a story," replied Eleanor.

Relieved, Caroline took a deep breath and sat down in front of her vanity. Finally, something to take her mind off her nerves.

"Whenever you're ready, Nana."
