Current Roles
Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult and Old Age Psychiatry
Deputy Chief Medical Officer, West London NHS Trust
Chair, Royal College of Psychiatrists London Division
Leadership & Management Tutor, North West London Higher Specialist Training Programme
Background
I began my psychiatric training in 2009 at South West London and St George’s (SWLStG). After taking maternity leave in 2013, I returned to higher training in 2014 on a less-than-full-time basis and completed my CCT in 2018.
Since qualifying, I have predominantly worked in old age psychiatry, with additional experience in general adult services across both inpatient and community settings. I have consistently supervised a wide range of resident doctors, including core and higher resident trainees in psychiatry, GP trainees, and foundation doctors.
In 2018, I was appointed less than full time (LTFT) Training Champion, and in 2020 I became Director of Medical Education at SWLStG. I moved to West London NHS Trust in November 2022 as Clinical Director for Older People’s Mental Health Services and have served as Deputy CMO for the past 18 months. I continue to maintain clinical practice one day a week.
Professional Involvement
I have extensive experience with the Royal College of Psychiatrists, where I am currently:
Chair of the London Division
Module Lead for the International Diploma in Older Adults Mental Health
Module Lead for the Leadership and Management Fellowship Scheme
Host of MindMasters at the International Congress
I also work with external organisations including Leaders Plus and The Careers Office.
Personal Background
I am divorced and have a 13‑year‑old son, so the realities of balancing parenthood with a career in psychiatry are central to both my lived experience and my professional interests. I am an enthusiastic cat lover and currently have three rehomed cats — Bobbo, Dottie, and Louey — and have (perhaps unwisely!) promised my son a fourth if I am successful in the Dean election.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading (my favourite book is Rebecca), building LEGO (I am very close to completing the Harry Potter castle), and cake — in any form!
