My Commission work hours are Monday - Thursday. Please give me one business day to respond to inquiries within those days.
I will either accept or politely decline the commission ( please see below for information on what I do and do not draw)
If I accept -
I have limited spaces for commissions so if I am full I will put you on a waiting list and give you a time estimate for starting date.
Once started - I will need both written and photo references. If you need help building an idea, I am more than happy to help but will not begin drawing until and idea is decided upon.
We will finalize details and then I will send a digital image for you to sign stating that you have read, and agreed to all of these terms listed here. This is a binding contract. A contract is non negotiable. If there is no contract, I will decline the commission.
Please view contract under the "work with me" tab, then the drop down links will have "Contract". This will be an example of what to expect, we can add/change details upon further discussion if needed.
I will collect the deposit or full payment depending on what we agreed upon.
Payment plans are available.
Within the time limit discussed I will then send the concept art, sketch, line art, flat colors, and then fully rendered piece (or whatever stage you decide on). * I do not go past drawing what is not paid for. EX: if you only pay the deposit that only gets you to the line art stage and no further. I will pause the commission until either paid in full or the next stage is covered. Only exception is if we have disucssed a payment plan that better fits your needs. However, I will never send completed art until payment is received in full.
You will receive updates for every step of the art. I will be extremely communicitave within my work hours and send any updates, questions, and changes every couple days (Monday-Thursday) as work is completed.
If you need a rush job or for me to work outside of my work days, an additional fee will be required.
If I ever need more time or feel I am unable to meet a deadline, I will reach out and we can discuss our options moving forward.
If you decide to cancel the commission at any point please see refund information below.
If I need to cancel the commission for any reason, you will recieve a full refund.
Once the final piece is approved by you, you have the option of me sending a high quality image via email or for an additional fee you can recieve a physical print/sticker. You can either choose to go through a 3rd party for a physical print (which I can give recommendations if needed), or I can make and send you a print/sticker. You would need to cover shipping if you chose to go through me.
Deposit is NON REFUNDABLE - No exceptions
Any stage I finish is non refundable. EX: if you pay in full and decide to cancel, but I've already finished up to the flat color, everything except the stages flat color and deposit would be refunded and so on.
All conversations regarding the commissions, as well as your digital signature, and agreement to these terms are saved into a file.
I, the artist (Sugar Lou/Sugar Lou Arts), retain ALL rights to the produced artwork. Meaning but not only including: Rights to upload the art to social media, use as portfolio, and anything else as I please. However, I will not sell any commissions unless discussed. (sell meaning stickers, art prints etc on my personal shops or any art shows).
The client is allowed to: Use the commission for person use ONLY. (ex: profile picture, wallpaper, wall art, gift for friend.) * Unless an additional commercial fee is paid and I have sent over the rights.
Not allowed: Claim it as your own art work, sell or reproduce the art, alter the artwork in anyway from its original form. NO COMMERCIAL USE * unless discussed and the fee is paid when we make the initial agreement*
THE CLIENT IS NOT PERMITTED TO USE MY WORK IN ANY AI PROMPTS, FILTERS, GLAZES OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT.
IF ANY TERMS ARE VIOLATED AND NO SOLUTION IS MET, EVERY RIGHT THE CLIENT HAS TO THE COMMISSION WILL BE RETRACTED WITH NO REFUNDS. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Unless agreed on within our initial conversation, commercial use of any of my art is not permitted. Any use outside of our agreed contract will be prosecuted by law. I own all rights to my artwork.
Permitted commercial use of my art will include a commercial fee. This fee depends on the intended use.

This list is not conclusive, just because it is not here does not mean a guarentee I will agree to it.
My default canvas size is 8.5IN x 11IN. If you need a different size you need to tell me BEFORE the commission is started.
The deposit amount is not refundable, even if the commission is canceled before I drew anything. Conceptualization is included in the price and therefore work I have done for you.
Any stage I have started is non refundable. Meaning if I have laid down any colors after line art is approved, flat colors are no longer refundable.
Any stage I have not started is refundable (not including the deposit). Meaning if you cancel before I start any work but you paid in full, I will refund you everything except the deposit. If I have started, I will refund for any work I have not started. EX: If the piece is paid in full and it was cancelled before I start color, I would refund for the rendering and flat color stages that I had not started.
Refunds are not based whether you are pleased or not with the piece, but the work I have completed.
All of our conversations about the commission, and your signature would be used in any attempt to charge back. Banks look at contracts and my refund policy, and therefore you would still be responsible for any money you attempt to charge back and not me.
