A little bit about me...
Hey there! Thanks for stopping by :) My name is Lauren; mother of three, wife of one, home baker & owner of Sugar Cakery! Although not professionally trained, I can trace back some of my earliest memories to baking and cake decorating. My love began as a child in the early 2000's with my first Easy-Bake Oven, creating those raw brownie-cake-concoctions (that that light bulb definitely did NOT bake all the way through) and making messes of cake batter all over my clothes. As I grew up I was fascinated with all of these glamorous cakes I would see on TV and found myself obsessively watching Cake Boss, the Food Network Competition, Ace of Cakes, in awe at their creations and talent. In 2014 I graduated high school knowing I wanted to pursue a career in pastry arts, I applied for & got accepted into a pastry program and shortly after became pregnant with my first child which put a pause on pursuing my education. The following decade was a string of unsatisfying careers; Restaurant manager...hotel receptionist...night auditor...non-profit branch director. In 2019 we welcomed our second son into the world & I shortly went back to work. Still never truly finding happiness in my career path, after all this time I still held on to what felt like this crazy, impossible idea that I could start my own business and actually be able to bake for a living. Well, they say all things happen for a reason and late into 2023 when the opportunity presented itself (and with the support of my husband) I left my 9 to 5 and opened Sugar Cakery! Or, as my favorite pod-casters would say "I started the f***ing blog!" After a whirlwind of a first year doing markets, testing new recipes, learning how to advertise, and creating new recipes, in late 2024 we completed our little family with the birth of our third (and final) son. Now here we are in 2025, two years of successful business underway, thanks to my amazing customers & this lovely community, my home bakery continues to grow and I continue to learn and improve my abilities. My once crazy, impossible idea is slowly evolving into my dream come true! I am so excited to show you what comes next for my small business, and trust me, I have some big ideas.
See you soon!
Lauren
