About
Dr. Sudip Jana is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics, School of Science, Adamas University, Kolkata. He joined the University in February 2019. He was awarded PhD in oceanography from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 2014. He received the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship (2012-2013) and worked as a Fulbright Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, USA. Dr. Jana worked as Postdoctoral Associate at Florida State University, USA during 2014-2016 followed by at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA during 2016-2018.
Dr. Jana has research experience of regional ocean modeling, data assimilation, real-time forecasting, onboard sea-exercises, and processing and analysing various in situ and remote sensing data. His research interest includes (i) ocean observation and analysis, (ii) basin- to coastal-scale modeling to study oceanographic processes over the Indian Ocean region and (iii) application-oriented data-driven and data-assimilative operational modeling with uncertainty estimation to predict the coastal and estuarine environment. This research will contribute towards monsoon and cyclone prediction, and coastal and estuarine ecosystem management
