SubtitleX (“the App”) helps users generate, edit, translate, and export subtitles for videos. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App.

1. Information We Collect

SubtitleX does not require an account and does not directly collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or payment information.

When you use the App, the following information may be processed locally on your device:

- Videos selected for subtitle processing

- Extracted audio files

- Generated subtitles and translations

- Video metadata, such as file name, duration, resolution, and file path

- Export history and recently imported videos

- Your language and subtitle-language preferences

- Downloaded speech-recognition and translation models

- Temporary processing files and exported videos

This information is stored in the App’s local storage and is not uploaded to a SubtitleX server.

2. On-Device Processing

SubtitleX processes imported videos, extracted audio, transcription, subtitle generation, and video exports on your device using local libraries and machine-learning models.

Speech transcription is performed using Whisper. Translation is performed using an on-device translation library. Your video, audio, and subtitle content are not sent to SubtitleX for processing.

When required, the App downloads machine-learning models from third-party hosting services, such as Hugging Face. These downloads may involve standard network information, such as your IP address, as handled by your internet service provider and the hosting service.

On Android, required machine-learning model downloads use the Android system download service. These downloads may continue while SubtitleX is running in the background, and Android may display a download notification. The downloaded model is stored locally on your device and is used for on-device transcription.

3. Advertising

SubtitleX displays advertisements using Google Mobile Ads.

Google and its advertising partners may collect or receive information such as:

- Device information

- Advertising identifiers

- IP address

- Approximate location derived from IP address

- App usage and interaction information

- Advertising and diagnostic information

This information may be used to deliver, personalize, limit, and measure advertisements, subject to applicable law and your consent choices.

You can manage advertising settings and reset or limit your advertising identifier through your device settings.

4. Permissions

The App may request access to videos or media on your device. This permission is used only when you select a video to import for subtitle processing.

You may deny or revoke this permission through your device settings. If permission is denied, some App features may not work.

5. Local Storage and Data Deletion

Files and information created by SubtitleX remain on your device unless you choose to share, move, or delete them.

You can delete locally stored data by:

- Deleting files using your device’s file manager or storage settings, where supported

- Clearing the App’s storage through device settings

- Uninstalling SubtitleX

Uninstalling the App removes its locally stored application data, subject to your device’s operating-system behavior and any files you exported outside the App.

Because SubtitleX does not maintain user accounts or a cloud database, we do not hold a separate server copy of your videos, audio, subtitles, or export history.

6. Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services and open-source libraries, including:

- Google Mobile Ads for advertising

- Google advertising partners for ad delivery and measurement

- Hugging Face or other model-hosting services for downloading machine-learning models

- Open-source libraries for video processing, transcription, translation, navigation, and local storage

- Android system download services for background model downloads

These third parties may process information according to their own privacy policies. SubtitleX does not control the privacy practices of third-party services.

7. Data Security

SubtitleX is designed to process user video content locally on the device. We use the operating system’s application storage for locally stored files and preferences.

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and for deciding which exported files you share.

8. Children’s Privacy

SubtitleX is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including rights to access, delete, correct, or object to certain processing.

Since SubtitleX does not maintain user accounts or store video content on our servers, most App data can be managed directly through your device.
