Dance has existed as a vital part of every known culture thought time. It is a distinct form of non-verbal communication that uses the body as an instrument of expression. articulating the culture and society from which is emerges.
The student of dance in Stage 5 involves the development of physical skills as well as aesthetic, artistic and cultural understanding. Learning in dance and learning through dance enables students to apply their own experiences to their study of dance.
They learn to express ideas creatively as they make and perform dances and analyse works of art. They learn to think imaginatively while physically and intellectually exploring the communication of ideas through movement

Students will undertake practical classes designed to develop dance technique and performance quality. The style of dance students learn is generic described as 'dance technique' that is based on the fundamentals of classical ballet and modern dance techniques. Through this straining students will acquire appropriate strength, flexibility, coordination, endurance and skill. Students also develop a working knowledge of the basic physiology of the human body as it relates to the dancer to enable students greater understanding of safe dance practices to care for the body.
Composition
Dance expresses ideas, feelings and experiences and is developed through the creative methods of dance composition. Students engage in problem solving tasks and manipulate the elements of dance as they explore, devise, select, refine and structure movement in a personal response to various stimuli to communicate ideas.
Appreciation
Dance provides opportunities for students to gain understanding of people. Culture and society. They observe and describe performances, compositions and professional works of art. In describing dance. Students learn to deconstruct various components of a dance that contribute to the communication of ideas.
