Hello! I am Dr. Subhash Kalidindi and I am currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Korley Research Group (KRG) at the University of Delaware (UD). I work under the guidance of Distinguisher Professor LaShanda T.J. Korley in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. For my postdoctoral work, my research focus is on 1. the preparation of responsive composite materials using various electrospinning techniques and 2. additive manufacturing to prepare nature-inspired responsive materials.
I completed my Ph.D. degree from Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts in Chemical and Biological Engineering under the guidance of Prof. Hyunmin Yi. My Ph.D. dissertation work was on "Micromolding-based Fabrication of Responsive Hydrogel Films and Microparticles having Tunable Micropatterned Opal Structures". I gained experience and expertise in the fabrication of 1. photonic crystals (opal structures), 2. soft smart materials, and 3. micropatterned polymeric hydrogels for potential sensing applications. My work during my Ph.D. journey resulted in publications in reputed journals such as ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, ACS Applied Engineering Materials, and Langmuir.
Previously, during my Master's at the University of Toledo, Ohio, I worked on "Multifunctional Soluble Polymer Catalysts for the Synthesis of 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural from Fructose and Glucose" under the guidance of Prof. Ana C. Alba-Rubio. This work led to a patent and a publication in the Journal of Catalysis Science & Technology. My thesis work was recognized with the best thesis award by the College of Engineering. I also won several poster presentation awards and was elected as an Omega Chi Epsilon member during my time at Toledo.
While pursuing my undergraduate degree at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, I worked on a thesis titled "Extraction of phenols from coal tar oil using ionic liquids and binary solvents" under the guidance of Prof. Duraisamy Kumaresan. This led to a publication in the journal International Journal of Oil, Gas and Coal Technology. Fun fact: I played for the Amrita University Tennis team and was the captain of the team for the year 2014-15.
This website is to share some of my research works and talks.
