Welcome to Stylsavant (the "Extension"), provided by Stylsavant ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome Extension. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about our data practices.
By installing and using the Extension, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not install or use the Extension.
We may collect the following types of information:
Cart and Product Information: When you use the Extension on supported fashion and merchandise websites, we automatically detect and collect information about the items in your shopping cart. This may include:

Product images or image URLs
Product prices (potentially, if available and relevant for suggestions)
The website URL you are visiting (to identify compatibility and context)
Interaction Data: We collect information about how you interact with the Extension itself, such as:

When you interact with or close the Extension's interface (e.g., the side popup).

General location inferred from IP address (non-precise)

Affiliate Interaction Data: We detect interactions (as described in Section 4) that trigger our affiliate link mechanism. We monitor the successful placement of affiliate cookies via this mechanism but do not track your subsequent browsing or purchase activity beyond the initial cookie placement for our operational purposes.
We do not currently intentionally collect directly identifying personal information such as your name, email address, physical address, or payment information, nor do we collect sensitive categories like gender unless it is explicitly part of a product description extracted from the cart.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
To Provide Core Functionality: To analyze the items in your cart and provide you with relevant outfit suggestions and completions by processing this data, including sending it to third-party AI services (like OpenAI or Google Cloud AI APIs) via our secure backend servers.
To Operate Our Business Model (Affiliate Links): As described below, certain interactions trigger the temporary opening and closing of a pinned browser tab containing our affiliate link to set an affiliate cookie. This is a fundamental part of how the Extension is funded and offered to you.
To Improve the Extension: To understand usage patterns, identify popular features, troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and enhance the quality of suggestions (including refining our AI prompts).
To Comply with Legal Obligations: To meet legal and regulatory requirements.
Please read this section carefully. A core part of how we sustain and offer the Extension involves affiliate marketing.
Mechanism: When you interact with the Extension in specific ways (such as initiating an outfit suggestion search or closing the Extension's side popup), the Extension will automatically and briefly open a new, pinned browser tab containing an affiliate link associated with our service.
Purpose: This action is designed to place an affiliate tracking cookie from one of our legally contracted affiliate partners into your browser.
Automatic Closure: The pinned tab is designed to close automatically almost immediately after the affiliate cookie is successfully detected as placed in your browser. The intention is minimal disruption to your browsing experience.
Effect: If you later make a purchase on the affiliated merchant's website, the cookie may attribute the sale to us, and we may receive a commission. This does not typically affect the price you pay.
Consent: By installing and actively using the Extension, including interacting with its features like searching for suggestions or closing its interface elements, you acknowledge and expressly agree to this affiliate link mechanism. This process is integral to the service provided by the Extension. If you do not agree to this mechanism, you should not use the Extension.
We do not sell your personal information as currently defined and collected. We may share the information we collect in the following circumstances:
With Third-Party AI Providers: We send cart and product information (including item names, descriptions, colors, and image URLs) to third-party AI service providers (such as OpenAI or Google) via API calls processed through our backend. These providers process the data according to their own privacy policies and terms to generate the outfit suggestions requested. We strive to use reputable providers with strong privacy commitments.
With Affiliate Networks/Partners (Indirectly via Cookies): The affiliate cookies set via the mechanism described in Section 4 are placed by our affiliate partners. These partners may collect information according to their own privacy policies once you visit their or their merchants' sites. We do not directly share your cart data or interaction data with affiliate networks, other than initiating the cookie placement.
With Service Providers: We may share technical or usage data with third-party vendors and service providers who perform services for us or on our behalf, such as cloud hosting (for our backend), analytics providers, and error tracking services, under confidentiality agreements.
For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
Business Transfers: If Stylsavant is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. Data sent to our backend and third-party AI services is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). However, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.
We retain the information we collect only for as long as necessary to provide the Extension's functionality, operate our business (including the affiliate mechanism), improve our services, and comply with our legal obligations. Cart data processed for suggestions may be retained temporarily on our backend servers for operational and caching purposes but is not intended for long-term storage associated with an identifiable user. Anonymized or aggregated usage data may be retained for longer periods for analytics and improvement.
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR in Europe, CCPA in California), you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. These may include the right to:

Uninstalling the Extension will stop further data collection by us but will not automatically delete data previously collected or revoke affiliate cookies already placed (these can typically be cleared via your browser settings).
Your information, including cart data sent for AI processing, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Our backend servers and the servers of our third-party AI providers may be located in various countries, including the United States. By using the Extension, you consent to this transfer.
The Extension is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold required by applicable law, such as 16 under GDPR). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. We may also provide notice through the Extension itself or via other means if the changes are significant. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the Extension after the effective date of the revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
Current Practice: As stated above, we do not currently sell the user data we collect.
Future Changes: Our business needs and practices may evolve. We reserve the right to change our data handling practices, including potentially using or sharing data (including data collected prior to the policy change) in ways not currently described, such as for targeted advertising or selling aggregated or potentially identifiable data, if we update this Privacy Policy accordingly.
Notification and Consent: Should we decide to implement such changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide appropriate notice. Your continued use of the Extension after such changes and your acceptance of the updated policy will constitute your agreement to the new practices, subject to the requirements of applicable law regarding consent for specific uses, especially concerning data collected under a previous policy. We will comply with legal requirements regarding consent for any new uses or sharing of your data, particularly if it involves selling personal information.
