We warmly invite postgraduate students to submit an abstract. As this conference explores the complex relationship between perception, identity, and the social world, our discussions will be guided by two primary directions. First, how our self-concept, social background, and historical context act as a lens that filters and structures our sensory experience; second, and conversely, how situated perception grounds our sense of being a person in the world.
We welcome submissions addressing research questions, including, but not limited to, the following:
How can we define the concept of a "style of perception"?
How do social categories, biases, and prior beliefs cognitively penetrate or shape our perceptual experiences?
In what ways is our perceptual apparatus historically and culturally contingent?
How do embodiment and social interactions (both physical and digital) forge our perceptual reality and our sense of self?
How do social structures scaffold our perceptual activity?
Is our sense of self fundamentally dependent on the way we perceive the world?
