We value your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data of our users. This Privacy Policy describes how the **StuTrack Study Companion** Chrome Extension and the **StuTrack** Mobile Application (collectively, "StuTrack") collect, use, store, and share your information.
---
## 1. What Data We Collect
StuTrack collects the minimum amount of data required to provide its core study productivity features. Specifically, we collect:
* **Authentication & Profile Information:** Your email address, display name, and profile picture avatar. This is collected when you sign in via Google Identity Services (OAuth 2.0).
* **Study Session Logs:** Durations and timestamp logs of your active study sessions.
* **Focus & Website Analytics (Chrome Extension only):** Hostnames/domains of websites visited *only* while you are actively in "Study Mode". This tracking is used to calculate time spent on productive tasks versus distracting sites. We do *not* collect full page URLs, page content, or browsing history outside of active study sessions.
* **Distraction Block Statistics:** The number of times you attempt to access a site on your blocked list during active study mode.
* **Task Lists:** Titles, statuses, and completion status of tasks you add to your Study Checklist.
---
## 2. How Data is Stored
* **Local Caching:** On your Chrome browser, your credentials, configurations, blocked lists, and statistics are stored locally using `chrome.storage.local` to ensure immediate and offline availability.
* **Cloud Storage:** All data is securely transmitted and stored in your private document inside our Cloud Firestore database (under the `/users/{userId}` path).
---
## 3. How We Use Your Data
We use the collected data solely to provide and improve StuTrack's core features:
* To authenticate you and persist your login state across sessions and devices.
* To calculate and display visual analytics (e.g. total study time, domain breakdowns) on your study dashboard.
* To enforce your customized blocker rules during active study sessions.
* To synchronize your tasks and goals between the Chrome Extension and the StuTrack mobile application.
---
## 4. Data Sharing and Sale
* **No Sale of Data:** We do **not** sell, trade, rent, or lease your personal data or browsing activity to any third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.
* **No Unrelated Use:** We do **not** use or share your data for any marketing or advertising purposes.
* **No Credit/Lending Use:** We do **not** use or share your data for determining creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
* **Cloud Infrastructure:** Your data is transmitted directly and securely to Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication (provided by Google Cloud Platform) which acts as our backend data processor.
---
## 5. Security of Your Data
All communications between the Chrome Extension, the mobile app, and our Cloud Firestore backend are encrypted in transit using Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS) HTTPS protocols. Access to your database document is guarded by strict Cloud Firestore Security Rules, ensuring that only your authenticated account can read or write your data.
---
## 6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your study metrics and preferences for as long as your account remains active.
* **Data Clearing:** You can clear your local extension cache by logging out of the extension.
* **Account Deletion:** You can request the permanent deletion of your account and all associated Firestore data by contacting us at the support address listed below. Once requested, your personal data will be purged from our active databases.
