The Study Rooms at the Yukon College Innovation Commons can be used on a first come, first serve basis, for YC students and staff. Booking a room guarantees that you will have a room reserved for a certain date and time period.

Room 2212 (large room closest to the Cafeteria) is designated as a shared quiet space. No booking is required to use the room. Rooms C2218-C2220 are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Study Rooms Use Guidelines

1. Rooms C2210-C2216 are primarily for YC student use. Staff/faculty need to use the Yukon College Facility Bookings system to book the Innovation Commons Collaboration Space or Innovation Commons Boardroom (C2221).

2. Rooms C2218-C2220 (behind the open workspace area) can be used on a first come, first serve basis but are not available for booking.

3. Room C2212 is designated as a shared space for students and is not available for booking. Multiple students are welcome to walk in and use the area as a quiet study space.

4. All study rooms can be used on a first come, first serve basis, as long as no bookings are in place for the room.

5. Rooms can be booked once a day, for a maximum of 4 hours, during Innovation Commons hours only.

6. A person cannot book more than 1 room under her/his name for the same day and time.

7. To book a study room for an allotted time, use the Study Rooms Booking Page to see which rooms and hours are available and submit a form requesting the room. If booking is successful, the booking will show upon refreshing the page. A confirmation email will also be sent to the requester.

8. If a room is in use by a person who has not reserved it, it can still be booked by someone else. The person who booked it will have priority for the space.

9. After a successful booking, the online calendar is updated immediately and a confirmation is sent by email. In the case of double-booking, the calendar will not be updated and a "conflict" email will be sent. In this situation, the person is advised to book another room or date/time. Contact library staff at the Innovation Commons desk if you have questions.

10. Rooms can be booked no more than 1 week in advance. Bookings placed for more than 1 week in advance may be cancelled at the discretion of the Innovation Commons team.

11. To cancel or modify a booking, contact library staff at the Innovation Commons desk or fill the Room Booking cancellation request.

12. Innovation Commons is not responsible for student’s personal property. When students leave the room, they must take their personal property with them. Study rooms are always kept unlocked.

13. Before leaving the room, users must make sure the space is in good working order (no garbage, furniture must be back in the same place as found, etc.).

14. Library staff reserves the right to cancel or shift your booking if not in compliance with these terms or if there is abuse in the use of space.

Equipment & Furniture Available for use at the Study Rooms

Each room is equipped with a mobile desk, rotating chairs, and a TV. Additionally, a laptop can be borrowed for use at the Study Rooms.

To use the equipment, pay attention to these guidelines.

1. Contact the Innovation Commons team before moving furniture from one room to another, if having problems connecting to the HDMI port at the back of the TV, or if attempting to change the angle of the mobile desks.

Inappropriate handling can result in damage to the furniture, and user may be liable for the damage.

2. Remote controls, HDMI cables, or laptops are available for borrowing at the Innovation Commons front desk. To borrow equipment, patrons must be YC students and have a current library account.

3. Remote controls and HDMI cables can be used for up to 4 hours, for use in the Innovation Commons only. Library laptops can be borrowed for 24 hours.

4. When borrowing library laptops, we highly recommend patrons save their files to Office 365 or a USB key. Any remaining personal files will be deleted from the device.

5. Overdue fines will apply for remote controls, HDMI cables, or laptops not returned by the specified time. Overdue charges for laptops are $10/day.
