This Privacy Policy explains how StudyForgeAI ("we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use the StudyForgeAI mobile app.

## Summary

- We do not require account creation.

- Your decks, cards, and study progress are stored on your device.

- **AI features run 100% on-device.** No study content is sent to any third-party AI service.

- We do not sell personal information.

- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.

- We do not share your data with any third-party AI provider.

## Information We Process

### 1) Study Content You Provide

The app processes content you enter or import, including:

- Flashcards, deck names, and notes

- Text extracted from PDFs and images

- Voice recordings (processed locally via Apple Speech Recognition)

- Study history and app settings

This information is processed **only on your device** to provide app features (study sessions, AI card generation, AI tutoring, stats, and import/export). None of this content is transmitted to any external server or third-party service.

### 2) On-Device AI Processing

StudyForgeAI includes AI-powered features (flashcard generation and AI tutoring) that run **entirely on your device** using a locally downloaded AI engine.

**What this means for your privacy:**

- All AI processing happens on your iPhone or iPad — your study content never leaves your device for AI purposes.

- No text, images, PDFs, voice recordings, or flashcard content is sent to any external AI service.

- AI features work fully offline after the initial engine download.

- We do not use any third-party cloud AI services (such as OpenAI, Google, or similar) to process your data.

### 3) One-Time AI Engine Download

To enable on-device AI features, the app downloads an AI engine file (~2.7 GB) from a hosted URL. This is a one-time download.

**During this download:**

- Your IP address and standard HTTP request headers (user agent, request logs) are visible to the download host, as with any file download.

- No personal data, study content, or app usage information is transmitted.

- After the download completes, no further network communication is required for AI features.

We do not use this download data to identify you.

### 4) Optional Permissions

Depending on features you use, the app may request access to:

- Camera (for photo-to-text capture via on-device OCR)

- Photos (to import images for on-device OCR)

- Microphone and Speech Recognition (voice input, processed locally by Apple)

These are optional and only used when you trigger related features. Data from these permissions is processed on-device and not transmitted externally.

## How We Store Data

- All app data is stored locally on your device.

- The AI engine is stored locally on your device.

- iCloud sync is currently disabled in the launch build.

- If you export decks/files, exported data is stored where you choose.

## Third-Party Data Sharing

**We do not share your personal data or study content with any third party.** Specifically:

- No data is sent to third-party AI services.

- No data is shared with advertisers or data brokers.

- No data is shared with analytics providers.

## Tracking and Advertising

- We do not track users across apps or websites.

- We do not use the app for targeted advertising.

- We do not share personal data with data brokers.

- We do not use any third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

## Data Retention

Your study data and the AI engine remain on your device until you delete them, uninstall the app, or remove exported files. You can delete the AI engine at any time from the app settings.

## Children

StudyForgeAI is intended for general audiences (4+ rating).

Parents/guardians should supervise use by young children.

## Your Choices

You can:

- Delete cards/decks in-app

- Delete the AI engine to free storage space

- Disable optional permissions in iOS Settings

- Uninstall the app to remove all local data including the AI engine

## Security

We use platform-provided storage and security controls. All AI processing occurs on-device, reducing exposure of your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we aim to use reasonable safeguards.

## Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date.
