You need to create a written plan and programme card for a client of your choice (peer)
The plan needs for a minimum duration of 45 minutes and include:
Appropriate warm up (pulse raising & mobility/stretching appropriate to client)
2 x CVR machines (1 x can be used for warm up/cool down & the other for main CVR section)
Upright cycle, recumbent cycle, treadmill, stepper, rowing machine, elliptical trainer, cross-trainer (you need to choose another machine for your practical assessment)
Minimum of 8 resistance exercises (4 x resistance machine lifts, 4 x free weight lifts) - please see Google Classroom Resistance Machines, Free weight and Body Weight options
Exercises chosen must be different to your practical assessment
Minimum of 2 x bodyweight exercises (functional/motor skills appropriate for client) - list on the document outlined above
Cool down (pulse lowering & mobility/stretching appropriate to client and include a developmental stretch)
Adapt the programme for a) older adult & b) younger client as well as your healthy adult - also suggest appropriate activities within facility
Gym-based programme delivery & professional induction unit
Observed by an assessor (James, Daniell or Melissa)
Use peers for models to deliver the programme
Summative observation record in LAR - this is what we will be using to assess you
Only put forward to the assessment if tutors feel that you are ready - ongoing assessment not just on the final day!
Exercise delivery:
1 x CVR machine to a group
4 x resistance exercises (resistance machine lifts - 1 x a group, 1 x individual, free weight lifts - 1 x a group, 1 x individual)
3 x body weight exercises (1 x individual, 1 x group, 3rd chosen by assessor)
All exercises need to be different to that on your programme for client
All planned across planned assessment points

Providing a positive customer experience in the exercise environment
Gym based programme delivery and professional instruction
Summative practical assessment lasts between 30-60 minutes
Gym based programme planning and preparation
Observed undertaking a client consultation including completing screening & consultation forms (PAR-Q, informed consent, risk analysis guidance - ACSM, client consultation record, gym overview, gym programme card)
2 x health assessments undertaken during consultation must be relevant to client & their goals (use same peer throughout assessments)
Assessed against ‘consultation observation feedback’ in LAR
Must be completed in 1 x session
Providing a positive customer experience in the exercise environment
Deliver a gym based session in 1 x session observed by assessor (James, Danielle or Melissa)
Module = same peer as planned for and undertook consultation on
Assessed against summative observation record (white areas only) in LAR
Preparing to instruct gym-based exercise - prepare a client to the exercise environment
Instruct a gym based session (white areas only) - observed delivering elements of the planned session including: warm up/cool down (including appropriate stretches, 1 developmental stretch assessor choice), 1 x CVR equipment (different from group delivery), 1 x exercise either resistance machine lifts or free weights (again different from group delivery)
End the session - gain feedback & complete evaluation forms
