Privacy Policy (Version 1 )
Effective Date: April 15, 2026
Hayani Labs ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Study Then Play mobile application (the "App"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App and the choices you have associated with that data.
1. Information Collection and Use
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our service to you.
Types of Data Collected
Personal Data
While using our App, we may ask you to provide certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify your child (for profile creation). Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:
Child Profiles: Nicknames or names and date of birth provided by the parent to differentiate between multiple users.
Usage Progress: Data related to educational questions answered (correct/incorrect counts) to track learning progress.
Child profiles and usage progress are stored locally on the device to personalize the experience.
Usage Data (App Monitoring)
To provide the core "App Locking" functionality, the App monitors the packages of other applications being launched on the device.
Usage Stats: We use the Android PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS permission to detect when a "Target App" is opened so we can display educational questions.
This data is processed locally on the device to trigger the lock screen and is not uploaded to our servers as browsing history.
Subscription & Payment Data (RevenueCat)
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. When you make a purchase:
Transaction processing is handled by the Google Play Store.
RevenueCat helps us track your subscription status, expiration dates, and purchase history using a unique anonymous identifier.
We do not store your credit card or financial details on our servers.
2. Third-Party Service Providers
We use trusted third-party services to facilitate our App. These third parties have access to your Data only to perform specific tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
Google Firebase (Firestore & Analytics): We use Firestore to sync educational questions and backup profile progress. Firebase Analytics helps us understand how the App is used anonymously.
Crash Reporting: We use Firebase Crashlytics by Google to monitor the stability of our app and improve user experience. This service collects certain information about app crashes, such as device information and logs of what happened when the crash occurred. This data is used solely for identifying and fixing bugs and does not contain any personally identifiable information.
RevenueCat: Used to manage and validate your premium subscriptions.
Google Play Services: Used for app functionality, security, and billing.
We use the Google Advertising ID for app functionality and analytics purposes, such as tracking subscription status through RevenueCat and app performance via Firebase.
3. Permissions Explained
To function correctly, the App requires the following sensitive permissions:
Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Necessary to detect when a restricted app is opened.
Display Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): Necessary to show the educational lock screen over target apps.
Foreground Service: Used to keep the monitoring service active to ensure the App works reliably.
Run at Startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Ensures protection settings are active after a device restart.
4. Children's Privacy (COPPA & Families Policy Compliance)
Our App is designed for parents to manage their children's device usage.
We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 without parental consent.
We do not sell your child's data to any third-party advertisers.
The App does not display third-party behavioral advertisements and complies with Google Play’s Families Policy.
Profile names are used solely for the parent to organize settings within the App.
5. Data Security & Retention
The security of your data is important to us. We use industry-standard encryption provided by Google Firebase. We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide the services.
6. Your Data Rights & Deletion
Parents (user) have the right to:
Delete any child profile created within the App.
Uninstall the App at any time, which stops all data collection.
Request Data Deletion: Users can request the permanent deletion of any data synced with our database by contacting us at hayanilabs@gmail.com.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date". For significant changes, we will provide a more prominent notice (such as a notification within the App).
