At Hillcrest High School, we began brainstorming ways to help students focus on their studies while also allowing them some free time to maintain a balanced life. Our idea originated at the Innovation Academy event at the university, where we aimed to understand various situations and develop solutions to real-world problems. During this event, we started formulating a concept for an extension designed to help students manage their study time more effectively, along with providing recommendations and quick links to resources, recommendations and quick links to their common school online classrooms and where their homework or other studies is usually done.
Our mission is to reduce excessive screentime for those students and children who either have too much screentime or don't study at all. We have it so they can balance out their lives, having an equal and reasonable amount of free time and studying at the same time, to provoke students to achieve high standards at schools, whilst also having free time to relax.
During the start of term two for our school Veer and I (Fletcher) attended a 2 day event taken place at the University of Waikato. We did many things such as listening to lecturers at the university, taking part in problem solving activities and finding a problem within our community and finding a good possible solution. Our group which included of 2 other people chose the problem of students struggling with stuff like studying. We brainstormed some ideas and both thought creating Study & Manage would be a good idea. Thinking it would only be something we will do at the 2 day course we later decided to continue working on it. As of now 19/09/2025 we have a working product and MANY different prototypes. Without this course we wouldn't of got a opportunity as good as this. We hope to continue creating things for Study & Manage and hopefully in the future we can create more different tools for certain things!
