Deeper Learning Symposium

Student Voice and Empowerment through Video Studios

Blended learning, flipped classrooms, live-streaming, Vlogs, YouTube Channel - Do these phrases have you break out in hives or make you want to hide? You can’t hide from these anymore, but you also don’t have to get a degree in technology. StudioEdu is an educator run organization that specializes in helping teachers train students on how to run video equipment, so teachers can just step in and do their thing without having to be a technology expert. Come to this session to learn about how structure and voice and choice can turn a group of your students into a well run video studio. Leave this session with a list of processes, equipment/software needs, and success stories to get you up and running...without a tech degree!

Help Your Students Voice be Heard through Podcasts

You want to share the awesomeness your students are creating, but how do you reach a larger audience? Ask the person next to you right now what podcasts they listen to? Whether they rattle off a few favorites or give you a crazy look, bring them to this session to find out how you or your students can start up a podcast. Participants will leave this session with the nuts and bolts of starting a podcast as well as the stories and structures for involving podcasts as a vehicle for amplifying your student voice. Deeper learning is not meant to take place in a vacuum. Sharing the work can be the most important part, so put this session on your agenda!
