As a teacher candidate, you are responsible for understanding and meeting all requirements, deadlines, and expectations for admission to and completion of a teacher preparation program.
This page provides a high-level summary of key responsibilities. The official Teacher Preparation Handbook remains the authoritative source and should be reviewed in full.

Guidance from your faculty advisor
Please note: Program requirements are subject to change in accordance with policies established by Longwood University, the Virginia Department of Education, and the Virginia Board of Education.
Professional Expectations
Honor Code:
All candidates must follow the Longwood University Honor Code in all academic and professional settings.
Professional Dress:
Professional dress is required when working in partnership schools or representing Longwood University. Candidates should follow dress guidelines set by their program and school division. Jeans are permitted during approved school spirit events when actively participating.
Professional Dispositions and Ethics:
Professional behavior, ethical decision-making, and appropriate dispositions are required throughout the program. These expectations are evaluated during coursework and all clinical experiences and must be met for program progression and completion.
Teacher candidates must maintain professional boundaries at all times.
Do not communicate with P–12 students through social media or personal/private channels.
