As the 2020 Spring semester is winding down, I am proud to say that I can’t wait to continue my journey as a student teacher for the next two semesters. Before coming into this semester, I knew that I wanted to become a teacher and help lead my students in the right direction, but little did I know I was going to learn more than that. Teaching is so much more then waking up every morning and teaching the same lessons year after year. Becoming an educator means that you are making the decision to learn and evolve with your students.

This semester has given me the opportunity to work side by side with my amazing CT and truly understand what it means to be a teacher. I am currently completing my student teaching at Country Club Elementary in a 1st grade class. During this time, I made relationships with my students and learned about them individually. I learned that creating a relationship is going to allow them to trust me and listen to me throughout the school year. This also allows me to learn more about my students and learn what learning environment works best for them.

Even though my time was cut short in the classroom I wouldn’t change anything. I have learned how teachers need to be prepared for anything that is thrown at them. I have had the opportunity to teach mini lessons within my class and work with small groups throughout the day. This has allowed me to apply everything I have learned as a student into the classroom.

Even though I have taken many classes to prepare me for teaching, I learned that teaching isn’t just black and white it’s much more than that. I want to make sure I am giving every student the opportunity to excel and spread their wings. I am going to do everything in my power to make sure I am giving my students the education they need to keep succeeding in life. Being able to have the opportunity to teach lessons has allowed me to gain confidence that I am going to do amazing once I fully get to take over the class.
