The goal of the School Social Work Program at Sycamore Creek Elementary is to partner directly with families, educators, students, and our community to address and overcome barriers to academic achievement. Ultimately, this partnership provides the necessary support and guidance that are essential to academic success and sound life decisions.
We work to provide a variety of services that aim to empower both the individual student and his/her family. Interventions are driven by the belief that early detection and prevention are crucial to stable outcomes in our schools, homes, and communities.
Social workers in schools are uniquely qualified to support students in a variety of ways. This is achieved through ongoing consultation with parents, educators and administrators, which promotes a team orientated approach to maximize each child’s potential.
Hi, I'm Brian Burton! I was raised in Wake County Schools and I'm happy to return as a staff member to make a difference in our students lives.
I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with my Master’s in Social Work. My experience as a school social worker has truly been rewarding. I am excited to collaborate with students, teachers, the administrative team, and parents who are vested in educational success. I understand that various circumstances can sometimes interfere with your student’s educational success. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you are experiencing issues with attendance, clothing, homelessness, food, etc. Wishing everyone an amazing school year!
