Santa Dorotea
Teaching sisters' institute
Our religious order was born in Venice on 6th August 1838, inspired by a priest from Bergamo: don Luca Passi. He wanted to continue Saint Dorothy’s charity, a laic group of Christian women taking care of the youth world. They guided young people through the exercise of Neighbours’ Evangelical Correction, the Meeting with Christ and the communion with brothers and sisters.
Mission
Our living style includes friendship, closeness, mutual support, as we have been entrusted by our founder. Our house offers you a welcoming and quiet place, and our hospitality stands out for its family spirit. The founding element of Saint Dorothy’s Community is based on Blessed Luca Prassi’s pedagogy, including taking care of others, trusting in travelling companions, valuing
relationships and friendship.
The guests will share common spaces, and accept to take part in the educational activities of the house.
Our religious community – complex for its diversity of presences and services – takes care of the Nursery School with attention to children and families, and of the catechesis in local Parishes.
Services
This is a student hostel only for girls in a religious building. We host girls attending university, offering a study area. Our facility is wheelchair accessible and includes 16 rooms, a garden, an entertainment room and a kitchen for self-catering.
