Placement Training and Guide for Service-Learning students


Spring 2022

STEP 1: To be completed by January 23rd:

Orientation: Please watch the video below by clicking on the link


Service Learning Students NEED to watch the orientation.

You must complete this training by 5pm on January 23rd


The Office of Service-Learning will send you your registration code at at 9am ON THE DAY REGISTRATION OPENS FOR YOUR CLASS.

If you fail to complete the training you will not be given access to register.


STEP 2: January 18th until registration

Review your list of service sites on GivePulse

PLEASE ENSURE YOU GO TO GIVEPULSE ON YOUR CANVAS SITE TO REVIEW YOUR LIST OF SERVICE OPTIONS BEFORE YOUR REGISTRATION PERIOD OPENS.

Follow directions given in the training carefully. If you are having problems please review the TROUBLESHOOTING document below.

STEP 3: Register for your service site

Your will have a specific registration window for your class (Please check with your instructors canvas site)

Your Registration period starts at 9am and ends at 5pm the next day during your class registration window

You will received your REGISTRATION LOCK CODE to register via email at 9am on the morning registration starts.

Review the " View my list troubleshooting" above if you are experiencing problems seeing your list of service sites.


To register:

  • Pick an option that you like that fits your schedule.

  • Click the green register button at the top right of the program description.

  • On the next screen Enter the lock code : LOOK IN YOUR EMAIL FOR THIS CODE

  • Complete the registration questions detailing ALL your availability as it pertains to the program and enter.

  • You will now be registered.

STEP 4: Attend an orientation or have an initial meeting with your supervisor (deadline February 15th)

Starting your service is YOUR responsibility. It is important that you meet with your program supervisor as soon as possible to complete any onboarding materials such as a background check, volunteer application and other documents relevant to your service work.

If you do not have an orientation date set up or have not heard back from your supervisor within 48 business hours of registering for the program you should email and/or call them, to expedite this process.

Please get started with your service ASAP so you can stay on track with your service hours.


Step 5: Register your IMPACT

Once you have COMPLETED AN ORIENTATION WITH YOUR AGENCY AND STARTED YOUR SERVICE you must register an impact in MUServes:Givepulse. This is how our office know you have successfully starting serving with your organization! -You will receive a link and instructions to do this.

The latest date to register your orientation impact is February 18th 2022. If you are having difficulties starting with your agency please let us know we are here to help you!

Remember: You will be evaluated by your supervisor at mid-semester (End of March) and at the end of the semester (reading day). Be professional and serve consistently.
