Due to the policies of the Taliban, an egregious humanitarian crisis threatening the lives of tens of millions of Afghans has gripped the country since their takeover in 2021. Additionally, a conflict with Pakistan has been reignited due to the Taliban's attacks on Pakistan, sparking a full-blown war between the two countries that has potentially killed hundreds.
A measles outbreak has infected tens of thousands and killed hundreds in Bangladesh, egged on by post-COVID struggles with the measles vaccination programs instated in the country.
The Central African Republic has been suffering from a civil war for over a decade now, a war that has displaced nearly a fifth of the country, killed thousands, and resulted in numerous atrocities, ranging from ethnic cleansing, killings of aid workers, and cannibalism.
For half a decade, the DRC and the M23 movement have been fighting a devastating war in the east of the country, which has helped contibute to a crisis that has displaced millions and contributed to a worsening humanitarian situation throughout the country.
Additionally, an Ebola outbreak has killed hundreds of people in the country, worsened by the M23 conflict and US aid cuts.
Ethiopia has been caught up in a civil war involving its various regions and ethnicities for decades now, which has recently exploded into a war with the Tigray region which for now has subsided, but could erupt once again now that the pre-war government of the region has taken over once again. In the meantime, Ethiopia is still experiencing violence and poverty that threatens the lives of the 135 million people who live in the country.
Since 2020, Haiti has been experiencing a gang war that has resulted in the country falling into total lawlessness, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of people and the displacement of over a million. Additionally, it has sparked a humanitarian crisis that includes mass starvation and a cholera outbreak.
In 2021, the Army of Myanmar overthrew the Government and established a Military junta. After peaceful protests failed, the situation escalated into a civil war that is in a stalemate as of May 9th, 2026. The situation has been exacerbated by the earthquake in March which killed thousands, destroyed infrastructure, and from which the country is still struggling to recover months later.
After Hamas' horrifying attack on Israel on October 7th, Israel responded with an even more horrifying genocidal onslaught against the people of Gaza that has killed tens of thousands, destroyed virtually all infrastructure in Gaza, sparked a famine in the Strip, and destabilized the Middle East, with wars and conflict erupting in the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria and Iran.
Gaza/Palestine: For nearly 80 years, Israel has been carrying out an occupation and genocide against native Palestinians, which has flared multiple times into conflicts killing thousands of civilians, and now has resulted in a war in Gaza and the West Bank that has officially killed tens of thousands, but has likely killed hundreds of thousands.
Lebanon: The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah (Created in response to the Israeli genocide of the Lebanese in the 1980s) has caused the deaths of thousands and destroyed hundreds of villages in Lebanon.
Iran: Massacres by the tyrannical theocratic Government and US and Israeli bombing have killed thousands and destabilized the country.
Yemen: Nearly 12 years of war have killed hundreds of thousands and sent Yemen back to the stone age in terms of development.
In 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, sparking a war that has killed hundreds of thousands of civilians and devastated both Ukraine and Russia. War crimes by Russian forces are rampant, and genocidal tactics have been employed against the Ukranian people, including massacres and the abduction of children to repatriation centers.
In the aftermath of the Arab Spring, Saharan Africa has been tormented by insurgent groups such as Boko Haram, with particular concentration in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, but with conflicts in other countries in the region as well. Tens of thousands have been killed in the war, and the region has been experiencing a horrendous humanitarian crisis thanks to the conflict.
For decades, Somalia has been embroiled in a Civil War between the breakaway state of Somaliland and insurgents in the south of the country. Millions have been killed or displaced over the course of the war, including the genocide of the northern Isaaq clan in the 1990s.
Still reeling from their nearly decade-long civil war, South Sudan has been recently deteriorating back into civil war due to flaring conflicts in the past year, threatening the youngest nation in the world with more conflict and a deeper crisis for its civilians.
In 2023, fighting erupted in Sudan's capital, Khartoum, between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces. This quickly escalated into a Civil War that has killed hundreds of thousands and created the worst famine in the world right now: As of May 2026, over half a million children have died and nearly 25 million are facing extreme hunger.
Thanks to corruption and mismanagement, Venezuela has suffered the worst economic crisis in modern history, seeing the worst hyperinflation ever recorded (With the exception of 1920s Germany) and experiencing severe human rights violations under Maduro and his successor, Delcy Rodrigeuz, who has opened the country to exploitation and resource stealing by American companies in the aftermath of the United States' kidnapping of Maduro.
There are various charities and NGO's who are currently working night and day to alleviate the suffering in these parts of the world.
These organizations perform multiple functions, including but not limited to:
Supplying medical facilities,
Aiding refugees fleeing conflict and crises,
Providing food to civilians in conflict/crisis zones,
Supporting and giving education,
Protecting and supervising compliance with international law,
And raising awareness of crises when they happen.
