Scott Cameron had always been fascinated by the Wild West whilst growing up in Scotland. He was seldom without a comic book in his hands. He loved reading about Cowboys, Outlaws, and of course Indians. Tragedy and then opportunity struck at an early age, giving Scott the chance to realize his dream of seeing the Wild West for real. Scott decided that a good way to see the real Wild West was to go hunting and after his first hunting trip he encountered his first Indians, the Cheyenne, whom he traded his furs with. During his stay in the Cheyenne village he made a number of friends, none more so than Nizhoni, an Indian maiden only slightly younger than Scott himself. Nizhoni becomes a close friend of Scott but when another hunter, with an ulterior and sinister motive, arrives at the village, kidnaps Nizhoni and takes her away from her fellow Cheyenne, Scott has to set off in pursuit of the kidnapper in an effort to return his good friend to her own people. During the pursuit Scott is put to the ultimate test and he discovers excitement, danger and romance. Most of all however he discovers that the real Wild West is nothing like the Wild West of the comic books that he read as a young boy in Scotland and quickly requires a boy to become a man.

Craig Armstrong is a civilian who works for the US Army as a liaison between the army and the local Cheyenne tribe. The Cheyenne live on land protected by a treaty that only allows soldiers and army liaisons such as Craig to enter it. When several Cheyenne warriors are killed and scalped by unknown white men, it is up to Craig to find the men responsible and bring them to justice. Craig’s friend Karl Fontaine is the liaison for the nearby Blackfeet tribe and when some Blackfeet warriors are also killed and scalped then Craig and Karl know that the Cheyenne incident was not an isolated one. It is therefore up to Craig and Karl to ensure that the men responsible for these attacks do not evade justice as this would increase tensions on the peace between the white men and the Indians. With the help of another three friends, Craig and Karl form a posse of five to pursue and hopefully apprehend the scalp hunters before they can cross the Rio Grande into Mexico and safety. The question is however, who will win the “Race to the River”, the posse or the scalp hunters?

Dean Ryker was a loner. He had been for all of his adult life and more so since the death of his parents. He had been made an orphan before his 19th birthday. The only thing that Dean liked to do was to go hunting.
It was whilst returning from a hunting trip almost a year ago that he witnessed a man being murdered. The man had been shot dead in cold blood by an outlaw named Sebastian Carson. Carson and his gang did not know, at the time, that Dean had witnessed the murder but when Carson was tried in court, Dean swore under oath that Carson had murdered the man. Despite Dean’s testimony, Carson was only convicted of manslaughter and was sent to 12 months in prison.
Furious at being sent to jail, Carson was released after 9 months and swore to get revenge on the two men who sent him to jail; the trial Judge, Oliver Lloyd and Dean Ryker.
Dean Ryker traded the furs that he obtained on his hunting trips with a tribe of friendly Cheyenne Indians. Dean was a good friend of Chief Spotted Wolf, the Chief of the village, and had been since saving his life a few years earlier. When Chief Spotted Wolf asks Dean to do him another favour and bring a beautiful Indian maiden called Inayat from a village almost 600 miles away to his village so that she can be his new bride, it begins a chain of events that puts Dean’s life in mortal danger.
Dean has an ally however, a woman that he met at the trial of Sebastian Carson almost a year ago and who now is a friend. Dean’s friend, Belinda Jennings, who also happened to be the daughter of the man that was murdered by Sebastian Carson, finds out that Carson is in the process of hunting Dean down to get his revenge on him for testifying against him and which resulted in Carson himself going to jail.
By this time Dean has begun his 1200 mile journey to Inayat’s village and back so that she can marry Chief Spotted Wolf. It is up to Belinda Jennings, therefore, to set out on the trail to try to find Dean and warn him of the danger that he may be in before Sebastian Carson and his gang catch up with him.

El Buitre
At the relatively young age of 18 years, and as an only child, Gary Buchanan was given complete control of his family’s ranch when his parents left Texas to travel to California to make their fortune. Gary’s ranch was already incredibly successful and over the next eight years the ranch’s success increased under Gary’s stewardship.
One day whilst returning home from a business meeting in Mexico, Gary witnessed a young woman being attacked by a Mexican man. After Gary intervened, during which Gary shot and wounded the attacker, Gary and the woman, Lucia Ramos, became good friends. Lucia expressed her thanks to Gary by giving him dinner and allowing him to stay in her house for the night before he headed home to Texas the following morning.
A couple of weeks later Gary was stunned when Lucia showed up at his ranch unexpectedly and in a state of distress. When Lucia told Gary that her parents had been murdered whilst visiting a nearby town by a criminal Mexican cartel who had just taken control of the town, Gary was stunned. Lucia had come to Gary to ask for his help because, now that she was an orphan, she had no-one else to help her.
The cartel that had taken control of the town, which was called El Cativa, was led by an outlaw named Esteban Lopez or, as he liked to be called, “El Buitre” which is Spanish for “The Vulture”. “El Buitre’s” cartel was in the process of taking over and controlling all of the towns in Northern Mexico and El Cativa was just the latest town to be taken over.
As “El Buitre’s” cartel continued to take over the towns of Northern Mexico, more and more of Gary and Lucia’s friends became victims of their violent campaign. After Gary himself became a victim of “El Buitre’s” brutal campaign, it was time for Gary and his friends to fight back.
With the help of his ranch-hands, his friends and, of all people, the pastor in the town of El Cativa, Gary worked out a plan to get revenge on “El Buitre” for the murder of Lucia Ramos’ parents as well as the brutal attacks on several of his friends and on himself.
“El Buitre” is an engrossing read which is full of adventure, thrills, romance and non-stop action. It is also a book that shows what can be achieved when friends work together for a common cause.
“El Buitre” is the latest Western adventure written by Stuart McIntyre who has already published several Westerns including “The Stolen Angels”, “Yellow Hair” and the very popular “The Last Wagon Train”.
