On September 4th, the editorial collective will host Critical STS Pedagogy Cooking Classes during the Making & Doing session at 4S 2025 Seattle.
The conclusion will reflect on the challenges and opportunities of STS pedagogy and reflect on the making of the STS Teachbook with the community of educator-scholars who have contributed to this collection. Drawing from conferences, workshops, and research on developing interdisciplinarity through teaching STS, the chapter will share insights related to different institutional affordances and constraints that impact engaged, interdisciplinary teaching, and the potential role of students in pedagogical design. We will discuss the implications of critical STS pedagogies that have the potential to inspire students to ask questions about science and technology in their classes, internships, and careers, and, in that way, transform our future. We invite readers to build on our work through future studies of critical STS pedagogy.
