Highlights of the Month

From the Editor’s Desk

Dear Readers, with open hearts, we entreat

To explore this month of autumn, both rich and complete

In these lines, we aim to paint a vivid feat

Where knowledge and action, like matured leaves, shall meet

Preserving nature's grace, our foremost quest

In a world where sustainability we must infest

We guide our students, in their autumn, at their best

To cherish the environment, nature's sacred chest

Heritage, Thought, and Reverie we embrace

Connecting with our roots, our cultural grace

Through thinkers' decree, like September's warm embrace

For creativity and identity to interlace

The dance of art and motion's plea takes the floor

With colours and rhythms, our spirits soar

In these expressions, we seek to explore

An outflow of emotions, rich and evermore

A New Dawn with NEP, a visionary scene

A policy to reshape, where the mind's keen

Our teachers' dedication, like autumn's golden sheen

Enlighten students towards a future unseen

Teachers: The Guiding Light, in their care

They nurture young minds, showing them where

In training sessions, knowledge they share

Planting seeds of wisdom, tender and rare

Voices and Visions of youthful glee we display

In poetry, prose, and art, they pave their way

With accolades and praises, we let them sway

Their creativity shines brightly, night and day

A Bond Beyond the Classroom we seek

Involving parents, unity at its peak

Together, our future, both strong and meek

In an atmosphere where potential they can speak

From the Alumni's Flight, a steady hand

From those who've soared to heights, understand

Their support and wisdom, like autumn leaves on land

Help students find success, life's uncharted strand

Join us, dear readers, in this noble stand

For together, in harmony, we shape the land

In these verses, our autumn journey, we expand

A fabric of voices, united and matured, so grand.

Our students explaing 'The Gravity Battery'

Project 1: 'The Gravity Battery'

"The Gravity Battery" is a groundbreaking and environmentally friendly energy storage solution designed to harness the potential of gravity for energy storage and release. This ingenious system capitalizes on the principles of gravitational potential energy through a straightforward yet highly effective design. It involves the lifting of substantial weights, such as rocks or concrete blocks, to a specific height, thereby storing potential energy. This stored energy can be converted into electrical power when required, providing a sustainable and renewable energy source.

Project 2: 'Art Integration'

Our project, titled "Conserving Traditional Art Forms and Building Entrepreneurial Skills," demonstrated how visual art can serve as a unique canvas for cultivating entrepreneurial skills and transcending conventional business methodologies. Traditional educational approaches often segregate subjects, overlooking the potential constructive collaboration between the arts and academics. The project addressed the critical challenge of integrating various art forms with the core subjects in education, offering innovative solutions to this compelling issue.

Environmental Stewardship: Blue Nudge Initiative

In keeping with the ideals set forth by the National Education Policy of 2020, which underscores the significance of instilling values like environmental conservation as part of a regular educational regimen, Salwan Public School has embarked on a transformative journey. Recognizing the importance of including Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) aimed at saving and conserving the environment, the school has initiated "Blue Nudge," an impactful programme in collaboration with Blue Planet Organization, aimed at influencing positive behavioral changes among its students. This initiative emphasizes the critical importance of waste segregation at its source, with the goal of reshaping societal attitudes toward responsible waste management.

Salwan Public School proudly presents the "Waste to Wealth (W2W)" drive, focusing on paper waste collection, encompassing newspapers, magazines, books, and notebooks. Our recycling unit transforms these materials into valuable resources. Participation in W2W educates students about the importance of recycling. It reduces environmental burdens and enhances society. By joining, students and families help combat landfill growth, tackling waste at its source.

The school offers free study modules for every 5 kg or more of paper waste submitted. These modules educate on environmental stewardship, recycling methods, and responsible waste management. Additionally, the top three student contributors (those who collect the most waste) will be awarded bronze, silver, and gold medals. In the first cycle, the school collected 570 kgs of paper waste. This reflects the dedication of our community in creating a sustainable future. The school's target is to collect 5000 kgs of paper waste. To reach this goal, the school is contributing its own paper waste to the association.

The "Blue Nudge" initiative moulds responsible citizens who safeguard the environment. Together, we turn waste into wealth, paving the way for a brighter, sustainable future.

Turning Trash into Treasure: Smiles all around as students witness their paper waste being transformed into valuable resources through recycling.

Paper Pioneers: Students proudly display their collected paper waste, contributing to the Waste to Wealth drive, fostering a greener future.

"September Assemblies 2023: Melding Environment, Culture, and Character in Our Students

In the month of September, the school conducted its morning assemblies with a dedicated theme - ‘Paryavaran Sanrakshan: Our Environment, Our Responsibility.’ These assemblies were not just about imparting knowledge but also about instilling important life skills and a sense of societal responsibility among our students. The primary objective was to raise environmental awareness among the students, educating them about their role in protecting the planet.

Additionally, these assemblies provided an excellent opportunity for cultural appreciation. We celebrated two diverse festivals, Ganesh Chaturthi and Janmashtami, fostering cultural understanding and respect. During the eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi celebration, students learned about the environmental impact of traditional clay idols and the importance of choosing eco-friendly alternatives. The Janmashtami festivities were marked by vibrant performances, including dances and dramas, depicting episodes from Lord Krishna's life. These cultural activities helped our students connect with the rich cultural diversity of India.

One unique aspect of these assemblies was the active involvement of our students in organizing and hosting them. They took on responsibilities such as event coordination, logistics management, and even shared their thoughts on environmental protection and cultural significance. This participation helped them develop essential life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and public speaking.

In a special gesture to foster parent-school involvement, we extended invitations to parents of our Junior Wing students to attend and participate in these assemblies. Their presence encouraged a sense of community and allowed parents to witness their children's holistic development. The morning assemblies during the month exemplified our commitment to providing a well-rounded education. By emphasizing environmental responsibility and celebrating cultural diversity, these assemblies enriched our students' lives and equipped them with valuable life skills. We hope that the lessons learned during these assemblies will inspire our students to become responsible and compassionate global citizens.

VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM: LOVE'S UNIFYING ANTHEM

In a world where borders divide, And hatred seems to thrive, There's a belief that sets us free,

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, the world as our family.

In every corner of this earthly land, People reach out, hand in hand, From East to West and North to South,

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, love's eternal shout.

Through different cultures and diverse ways, We find unity that forever stays, For in the heart, we all are one,

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, where love has begun.

No matter the color, no matter the race, We hold each other in a warm embrace, For deep within, we all are connected,

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, love's truth reflected.

Let the message spread far and wide, That in this world, we stand side by side, For when we come together, hearts entwined, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, love's gentle bind.

So let us break down walls of fear, And let love's harmony draw near, For in the end, we are all the same,

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, love's eternal flame.

REDISCOVERING PEACE: A JOURNEY WITHIN

There was a time when I sought for peace,

Wandering the oceans in a long lost fleet.

And as the waves came crushing down,

I realized I was wrong all along.

I sought for things I thought would give me tranquility,

They only gave the night waves a destiny.

And I thought that things would get a little bit better,

But then came the storm, it rained forever.

And I walked the paths of the cavernous lake,

Only to find it lost like all my ways.

It took me a while to realize my mistake,

Peace wasn’t some imaginary flake.

It was the cool breeze that touched my face,

It was the gathering warmth on a winter day.

It was the mystic lingering in the strokes of a brush,

It was the laughter that made her flush.

It was the scribbles of a story yet to be foretold,

It was every splinter I laid my eyes on.

The Morning

When the golden sun peeks through clouds, A vibrant sunlight follows all around.

The birds start chirping, The roaster starts singing, It's a bliss to watch such type of morning.

After that a gentle,cold-warm breeze follows, Oh! it feels so light and hollow.

The morning sunlight also lays down some benifits and also there is not a single menance about it.

It keeps us healthy to walk beneath the morning sunlight, Admiring the beauty, lost in a paradise.

In this gentle morning even the sun spreads love and warmth, because it's not so harsh on this time.

The leaves of the plants are covered with dew drops, and when you taste them they feel like a cold shot.

Children like to play early morning, because this morning feels peaceful, still and untouched.

It creates a scenic beauty, Such beauty that you will not find anywhere,

It's such a elation to watch an early morning.

WHAT FREEDOM MEANS TO ME

In the casket I lay low,

Covered in my pride from head to toe.

In my head their voices echoed,

While with the highest honour I was bestowed.

The wrapped me in my flag, in my nation,

This is the best end I could've envisioned.

My end is a start,

For an era, we depart.

We led us to freedom, It led me to martyrdom.

We fought for what was ours, Embraced our deepest scars.

I saw them crying, with grief they mourned, With their tears I was adorned.

The eternal sky, the rivers that flow, The birds that fly, the stars that glow,

The child who started at the sky with glee, Was what I thought freedom would be.

But as I lay in this confined space, As it became my happy place,

I realised what freedom meant to me,

It was fulfilling my duty towards my country.

It was voluntary and so it felt so good,

Glad I could be an inspiration to the boys of the hood.
