Aaron's Brain Aneurysm and Stroke Survival Story

I’m Aaron Avila, a proud survivor and founder of Stroke TV Media. I hail from the beautiful Bay Area town of Santa Rosa, just 45 minutes north of San Francisco

In 2010, at the age of 47, my life took a dramatic turn when I suffered a brain aneurysm rupture followed by a stroke.

Before that, I was running my own water storage tank and rainwater harvesting companies for over a decade.

I was a do-it-all kind of guy, from cutting down towering trees to designing intricate drinking water system, being a certified Open Water Diver and so much more!

IN 2010, AS FAST AS LIGHTNING STRIKES MY LIFE AS I KNEW IT WOULD END. I WOULD BECOME A BRAIN ANEURYSM AND STROKE SURVIVOR.

I was left with challenges I had never faced before such as, unable to walk and forced to use a wheelchair, speech issues, balance problems, and much more.

Yet, amidst it all, I found strength and love in my incredible wife, Rebecca, who stood by my side through thick and thin. Without her unwavering support, I would be dead right now.

My stroke was a wake-up call—a second chance at life for me. It made me reassess everything I took for granted, from all my abilities to the simplest joys of life to the love of family and friends.

It wasn't an easy journey; anger and frustration with suicidal thoughts consumed me at first.

When I first got home from the hospital, unable to speak and half my body wouldn't move. I would lay there quietly,

(Squirrel Note, lol)

STROKE, The Journey Within began that day. Now, a future book I'll write before I die

I would lay in my bed for hours, thinking only with a overwhelming dark energy in my mind. Thinking with every detail of what I had to do to kill myself. In fact, I had everything in detail figured out. From getting my half paralyzed body into my wheelchair, push myself backwards up a small wheelchair ramp, to my closest, where I kept my 40 caliber Smith & Wesson so I could shoot myself in the head. But I just couldn't do it! I could only see Rebecca cleaning my brain matter off the bathroom walls. I love her to much to do that to her, so I never pulled the trigger.

The dark energy of suicidal thoughts never really left me. "I know, pills! No mess for Rebecca to clean up!

But as time went by, I discovered a new purpose.

Stroke survivors became my teachers, my inspiration. I embarked on a mission to connect with fellow survivors, to share stories, to offer support, and to spread hope. I realized that I wasn’t just a victim; I was a survivor, and that made all the difference.

Through my experiences, Stroke TV Media was born. For nearly a decade, I’ve been dedicated to serving the stroke community. This global media network is a hub of resources, stories, and support for survivors and their families. And stay tuned for my upcoming book, "STROKE" The journey within" where I delve deeper into my journey.

Join me and countless others as we navigate through the challenges of stroke recovery, celebrate victories, and embrace life with renewed vigor. Remember, we're not victims—we're survivors. Never give up!

With a lot of positive energy,

Sincerely,

Aaron Avila
