The first investigation target is described as not knowing that much, and the second target, Guilty McGuiltyson, brushes the students off and tells them to focus on their upcoming exams. Naturally the party would never just ignore the whole plot and do this, and so they do exactly this and head off to another history exam.
There is a scenario where the group might do improv on stage in front of the student body, which is funny to me, because usually in D&D if the group gets involved in an in-game play, they don't stick to the script, so I find this to be really fun. The group is expected to do wacky things and for chaos to ensue.
