Strings of Sparta

The Strings of Sparta are an advanced guitar ensemble. Students must either complete guitar 1 or perform an audition for Mr. Merrett. Members refine their guitar skills primarily through learning advanced repertoire, with supplementary etudes, exercises, and proficiencies also necessary. The ensemble performs regularly in a variety of styles and in a variety of venues, both at school and in the community.

Rehearsals are every Monday from 2:00-3:30.

Guitar 1 is open to any and all students who are interested in learning how to play guitar. Topics include chords, bass, melody, electric guitar, power chords, Barre chords, and group playing. Performances will take place at the winter and spring concerts, as well as during class from time to time.
