A brief history
This project evolved from the Rotary Club of Tiaong-Hiyas community project "Strengthening Mothers" during the rotary year of 2022-23 with the theme "Imagine Rotary".
Inspired by the first ever female Rotary International President Jennifer Jones and the District Governor of 3820 Gina Sy dubbed as the "girl on fire", the idea was to empower a group of mothers to take better care of their wellbeing through a program that was 12 weeks duration designed to improve self-awareness, recognize self-worth, increase self-agency and develop self-leadership.
The aim was to support the participants in making better choices and decisions in regards to their own behaviour and to help create a lasting impact in the overall health outcome, their own and their loved ones.
At the end of the 12 weeks, the group of mothers developed a stronger connection and friendships with each other. They wanted to continue coming together in the hopes of sharing with other mothers what they have learned and achieved from the program. They also wanted to expand to reaching youths about prevention of substance use and early teen pregnancy.
With all these in mind, they were led to forming "RCC ILAW NG TAHANAN", which means the one that lights up the home.
Where we are today
An RCC Centre for Holistic Wellness is on its way to open in the third quarter of 2023, and ready to empower more mothers.
The centre will be led and managed primarily by the RCC ILAW NG TAHANAN members, with the full support of the Rotary Club of Tiaong-Hiyas.
The centre is located in Barangay Lusacan, Tiaong, Quezon that will serve as a safe space for mothers in the community where peer support will be available in years to come.
Other health promoting activities including but not limited to personal skill development, capacity building and livelihood training will be offered.
Our vision is a community where mothers will feel supported and be able to navigate better the challenges of motherhood.
