S.K. Thoth, or simply Thoth, has been a fixture of the New York City street music scene since the 1990s. His unique "prayformances" combine violin, dance, percussion, and vocals and have garnered him much media coverage, including a 2002 Academy Award winning documentary.
The Thoth collection is comprised of several dozens of audio and visual recordings of Thoth's solo performances in Central Park's Bethesda Terrace from 1998 to 2012 and various costumes and instruments. S.K. Thoth generously donated a copy of his unpublished original opera based on a mythical universe about which he has been writing since childhood. Although Thoth has been the subject of much fascination and a short popular documentary, he remains a figure shrouded in mystery. The recordings, and especially his manuscript, provide an excellent window into the world Thoth inhabits.
