StreetContext is an independent browser extension that adds publicly available neighborhood and property information to listings and search results on StreetEasy.
StreetContext is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by StreetEasy, Zillow, or the government agencies providing the underlying data.
This policy describes what information StreetContext accesses, stores, and shares with third-party data providers.
When browsing supported StreetEasy pages, StreetContext may read:
Property addresses and neighborhoods
Listing URLs and asking prices
Bedroom counts and other listing details
Geographic coordinates and map boundaries
This information is used to display neighborhood rent comparisons, housing records, environmental information, and map overlays.
StreetContext does not request your device's GPS location.
StreetContext uses your browser's local extension storage to save:
A limited history of observed listings, including addresses, listing URLs, prices, configurations, and observation timestamps. The current version stores up to 500 entries.
Cached geographic data and public records for previously viewed map areas. The current version retains up to 18 recent geographic areas.
Information needed for local extension functionality and performance.
This information remains in your browser's extension storage. It is not uploaded to a server operated by StreetContext.
Cached information may remain until replaced, cleared, or removed when you uninstall the extension.
To retrieve public records, StreetContext may transmit relevant property addresses, geographic coordinates, or map boundaries to:
NYC Open Data
NYC Planning Labs GeoSearch
United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mapping services
ArcGIS mapping and geographic data services
These services use the information to respond to the extension's requests. They may also receive ordinary connection information, including IP addresses.
Third-party providers operate independently and may process or retain request information under their own privacy policies.
StreetContext uses information solely to:
Display public-record information about properties and neighborhoods
Generate geographic map overlays
Compare asking rents against available neighborhood benchmarks
Identify notable findings in available public records
Reduce repeated data requests through local caching
StreetContext does not operate a user-account system or a developer-managed database of users.
The current version does not contain a developer-operated analytics service or advertising integration.
StreetContext does not sell user data to advertisers or data brokers. It does not use or transfer data for lending or creditworthiness decisions.
You can disable or uninstall StreetContext through your browser's extension settings.
You can remove locally stored information by clearing the extension's storage or uninstalling the extension. Removing cached information may reset previously loaded map data and local rental-comparison samples.
StreetContext does not maintain an online user profile requiring a separate deletion request.
StreetContext relies on third-party public records that may be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate, or geographically approximate.
Reported crime and 311 requests do not necessarily represent confirmed violations or safety conditions. EPA site boundaries do not establish environmental exposure at a specific property.
A message stating "No major issues flagged" means no configured warning was identified from the available completed checks. It does not guarantee that a property is safe or free of problems.
StreetContext uses HTTPS connections to request information from supported external data providers.
Locally cached information is handled through browser extension storage. No software or online service can guarantee absolute security.
StreetContext is a general-purpose housing-information tool and is not specifically directed to children.
This policy may be updated when StreetContext's features or data practices change. The effective date will be revised when updates are published.
