Dear Conference Delegates,

We are delighted to welcome you to ‘Virtual Space and Interactivity in Streaming Media with Transnational Context’, a hybrid academic conference hosted by the Film Department at the University of Southampton. It is located at the Lecture Theatre B, Avenue Campus, University of Southampton, on Friday, July 7, 2023. 

The widespread proliferation and expansion of streaming media networks over the early decades of the 21st century have inarguably had an impact on the nature of. At this conference, we aim to provide a substantial contribution to the existing debates about the widespread proliferation and expansion of global streaming media platforms, enriching our collective understanding of streaming services and their impact on the transnational film/television industry. This conference seeks to address pertinent issues regarding digital technology, policy, marketing, and aesthetics of streaming media, to raise the worldwide scholarly dialogue of the development, trends and predictions in the global audio-visual culture, distribution models and spectatorship practices. We hope this intriguing and thought-provoking day event would not only provide an innovative and diverse platform for conference speakers, chairs, and attendees to share and exchange opinions, but also bring together different voices to shape an inclusive, malleable, and critical understanding of the subject matter.
