MCRPC has received your comments and is excited to announce the release of the 2nd Draft of the McLean County Strategic Land Use Plan.
MCRPC is excited to announce the Second Draft of the McLean County Strategic Land Use Plan, which includes alterations and improvements derived from feedback received during the first round of public comment. This second draft incorporates public feedback while maintaining the plan’s focus on the balance of rural and urban land use planning.
This draft includes a new chapter detailing the planning process, a Frequently Asked Questions section that addresses the general concept of land use planning, and a public outreach report in the appendix. Major changes include splitting the Industrial/Employment Center land use into two separate land uses, a reduction in size and change of land use in the Southeast Bloomington area, and a revision to the East Side Corridor. The draft also contains rewritten text, new graphics, and other changes to improve readability and add relevant information.
After reviewing the second draft of the McLean County Strategic Land Use Plan, members of the public are encouraged to complete the public comment form, available until October 22nd, 2025. Additionally, two open house events have been scheduled. The first event will be held at the Village of Downs Community Fire Department on October 14th from 5 pm – 7 pm, and the second at Heartland Community College on October 16th from 5 pm – 7 pm. All feedback received will help inform the final document, which is anticipated for completion by MCRPC by the end of October 2025.
The draft document and public comment form are available at: https://sites.google.com/view/strategic-land-use-map/home. Hard copies of the Plan and public comment forms will also be available at the MCRPC office and at all public libraries throughout McLean County.
