Strange Fauna's mission is to create sustainable artwork with the purpose of educating the communities of Louisiana about local ecosystems. With expertise on the subject, we provide education on the complexities of wildlife ecology, as well as modeling effective environmental stewardship through artwork.
Strange Fauna is a Local, woman Owned, art business. We create unique art with and on repurposed materials. Our goal is total sustainability with our pieces, packaging, and production.
Inspired by local ecosystems, we delve into the trophic levels and represent the lovely critters and plants within. In doing so, we promote the historically underrepresented beauty of native life. We are here to spread love to every critter, big and small, from the most prolific to the most endangered.
I Am Amori! The owner and artist of Strange Fauna. I am a conservation biology student at Louisiana State University and hold an associate degree in Natural Sciences. I have spent chunks of my childhood and adolescence in many areas of Louisiana, but I was born on the West Bank of New Orleans and spent a majority of my life there. I've travelled all over and am fascinated by the ecological diversity of the world, but nothing measures up to home.
Scientifically, I have worked as a researcher in several disciplines like horticulture, freshwater ecology, and molecular biology. I currently have one scientific publication on cyanobacteria and plan of having many more!
Artistically, I have been actively creating for as long as i can remember. I was selected for the talented art program when I was 7 years old and remained in the program until I graduated. Outside of school, I was mentored by many excellent hyperrealism painters and graphite artists.
Strange Fauna started as a fleeting idea and was experimented with for a few months before I decided to make it an official trademarked Business. i had to see this idea through, and i am so glad I did.
