This Privacy Policy explains how StraightScan, developed by Conrad Smit, handles information when you use the app.
StraightScan requests camera access only so it can detect and read QR codes. Camera images are processed on your device. StraightScan does not upload, transmit, or store camera images or video.
StraightScan reads the content contained in a QR code and displays it to you. The app does not create a cloud account, does not maintain a server-side scan history, and does not send scanned QR-code content to the developer.
When you choose actions such as Open Website, Copy, Share, Call, Email, or connect to Wi-Fi, Android or the selected third-party app handles that action. Those services may apply their own privacy policies.
StraightScan uses Google AdMob to display clearly labelled banner advertising. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share information such as an IP address, general location inferred from the IP address, app interactions, diagnostic information, and device or advertising identifiers for advertising, analytics, and fraud-prevention purposes.
Google states that data collected by the Google Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit. Google handles this information under its own privacy policy: Google Privacy Policy .
Where required by law, StraightScan uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to request and manage advertising consent choices before ads are requested. A privacy-options entry point may be made available in the app where required, allowing users to review or change their choices.
StraightScan does not operate user accounts and does not retain personal data on developer-controlled servers. You can remove locally stored app settings by clearing the app’s data in Android settings or by uninstalling the app.
Information processed by Google AdMob is retained and managed by Google according to Google’s own policies and user controls.
Camera processing and QR detection occur on the device. StraightScan is designed to minimise data collection and does not transmit scanned camera frames or QR-code content to the developer.
StraightScan is a general-purpose utility and is not specifically directed to children under 13.
This policy may be updated when the app, advertising setup, legal requirements, or third-party services change. The updated date at the top of this page will show when the policy was last revised.
