The area that consists of St. Peter’s Parish, originally known as St. Pierre aux Bouleaux, was settled by a number of French Canadian families as early as 1847. 

St. Peter’s Church has been a place of prayer, faith, and community in St. Joseph, Ontario for generations. The parish was founded to serve the spiritual needs of families who built their lives along the shores of Lake Huron and the surrounding countryside.

In 2023 St. Peter's celebrated it's 150th anniversary.
