StorySprout ("we," "us," or "our") respects the privacy of our users ("user" or "you"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
Our App is designed for children and families and is subject to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We are committed to protecting the privacy of children under 13.
No Personal Account Required: We do not require users to create an account, provide an email address, or phone number to use the App.
Data Minimization: Any name or age entered into the App is used solely to personalize generated story content. This data is transmitted to our AI processing partner (Google Gemini) and is not stored on our servers after the response is returned.
No Behavioral Advertising: We do not collect Advertising IDs and do not engage in interest-based advertising or remarketing.
Parental Gate: Before accessing external links or completing in-app purchases, a parental verification step (a simple arithmetic problem) is required to ensure a parent or guardian is present.
We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the App includes:
A. Personal Data Provided by You We collect the following inputs to function:
Child’s First Name: Used strictly to personalize the story text on the frontend during story creation.
Age: Used to adjust the complexity of the vocabulary generated by the AI.
Story Preferences: (e.g., Heroes, Settings) used to guide the AI generation.
B. Automatically Collected Data
Anonymous User ID: An anonymous identifier generated by RevenueCat's SDK is used to track subscription status and monthly story usage. It contains no personally identifiable information.
IP Address: Your device's IP address is collected transiently by our backend servers for rate limiting purposes only (to prevent abuse). It is stored with a short rolling time window and is not retained beyond that window or used for any other purpose.
Purchase History: If you subscribe or make a one-time purchase, the transaction is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) and RevenueCat. We do not store or have access to your payment card information.
The information we collect is used to:
Generate personalized stories, illustrations, and audio narrations via Artificial Intelligence APIs.
Manage your subscription status (Free vs. Premium).
Save your story history locally on your device.
We use the following third-party services to operate the App. We do not sell your data to any third party.
Google Gemini (Google LLC) AI generation of story text, illustrations, and audio narration: Story inputs (hero name, setting, theme, visual preferences) sent per request; not retained by us after response. See Google Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat Subscription management and purchase receipt validation: Anonymous App User ID; App Store or Google Play purchase receipt. See RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Upstash (Redis) Backend data store for anonymous usage counters and rate-limit tracking: Anonymous App User ID (usage counts, story credits); IP address (rate limiting only). See Upstash Privacy Policy.
Local Storage: The stories and images you generate are stored locally on your device's internal memory should you choose to save them.
Server-Side: We do not maintain a central database of your stories. Data sent to AI providers is processed and returned; we do not store it on our own permanent servers.
We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.

Welcome to StorySprout. Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before using the StorySprout mobile application ("App"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
StorySprout uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate custom stories, illustrations, and audio narration for children based on user inputs.
You acknowledge that the content in this App is generated by Artificial Intelligence. By using the Service, you understand and accept the following:
Visual Consistency: AI image generation varies. Characters, settings, and artistic styles may not remain perfectly consistent from one story segment to the next. (e.g., A character’s clothing or appearance may change slightly between pages).
Accuracy: Stories are fictional and generated automatically. The App makes no claims regarding the educational accuracy or logical continuity of the generated text.
Safety: While we implement strict safety filters to prevent inappropriate content, AI behavior can occasionally be unpredictable. You agree to supervise children while they use the App.
StorySprout offers the following in-app purchase options, with pricing as displayed in the App at the time of purchase:
Basic (Monthly): Up to 15 stories per month.
Pro (Monthly): Up to 30 stories per month.
Pro (Annual): Up to 30 stories per month, billed annually.
Story Bundle: A one-time purchase of 5 additional stories (non-expiring credits).
Auto-Renewal: Basic and Pro monthly/annual subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
Apple App Store billing: Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the confirmed purchase price. You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time by going to your Apple ID Account Settings after purchase.
Price Changes: We reserve the right to modify subscription prices. Any price change will take effect at your next renewal following notice to you.
Refunds: Refunds are subject to the policies of the applicable app store (Apple App Store).
Each subscription tier includes a monthly story allocation as described in Section 3. Story Bundle credits do not expire. Unused monthly stories do not roll over to the following month.
We reserve the right to impose temporary limits or throttle generation speeds in cases of abnormal usage patterns (e.g., automated requests) or high server load, to ensure service stability for all users.
Personal Use Only: The stories, images, and PDF files generated by StorySprout are for your personal, non-commercial use only. You may print them, read them to your children, or share them with family and friends.
No Resale: You are strictly prohibited from selling, licensing, or distributing the generated PDFs or story assets for profit. You may not list StorySprout books on marketplaces (e.g., Amazon KDP, Etsy) or claim copyright ownership over the AI-generated assets provided by our proprietary workflow.
App Ownership: All software, code, and proprietary prompts used to generate the stories remain the intellectual property of Juby Apps.
You agree not to use the App to:
Generate content that is violent, hateful, sexually explicit, or harmful to children.
Attempt to reverse-engineer the API or access our backend services via unauthorized means.
Input copyrighted names (e.g., Mickey Mouse, Spider-Man) or real celebrities into the story generator.
The App is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, StorySprout shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
8. Apple as Third-Party Beneficiary
If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store, Apple Inc. is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary. Juby Apps, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App and its content. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services with respect to the App.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
