RALLY & PACK THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING: APRIL 22
At least 4 massive data center projects are currently planned or under consideration across Hanover County. Together, they would:
Industrialize hundreds of acres of land currently zoned for agriculture
Operate 24/7 with constant noise, heavy truck traffic, and diesel generators
Consume enormous amounts of electricity and water
Permanently alter rural and residential communities
These projects are being advanced with little transparency and without adequate consideration of long-term impacts on residents.
Approving even one of these projects opens the door for widespread industrialization across the county. It sends a clear message that no community is protected.
Much of the proposed development sits on land long used for farming or family homes in Hanover County. Once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.
Technology is coming so fast data centers are obsolete by the time they launch. A data center constructed now could be obsolete by the time it comes online.
Data centers bring continuous noise, air pollution from diesel generators, and increased traffic — all of which pose risks to nearby neighborhoods, schools, and families.
Demands on already strained roads, power grids, and water systems would dramatically increase, raising questions about reliability, cost, and who pays when systems fail.
As utilities are stretched, everyday residents could see significantly higher electricity and water bills — while huge corporations benefit from massive infrastructure investments.
