30 October 2019
Dear Stoneleigh HOA Members,
I’ve held off on writing this letter to you pending the results of the Oct 27, 2019 vote on the Bylaws, Covenants and Stoneleigh Architectural and Community Standards (SACS). As you’ve probably read in the minutes posted on our website, the revised documents were accepted by a vote of 110 to 11 with 20 residents abstaining. I would like to thank those who took the time to vote and encourage those who didn’t to get involved in the running of the community. I would also like to thank all our neighbors who worked diligently for hours on end to prepare these documents and assist in the voting process.
Questions were raised during the voting period that indicated that though the new documents are better than what we started with, there may be room for improvement. We ask that those with suggestions on improvements to the documents please present them to the BoD at a regularly scheduled meeting. If we are able to convene a committee to work with the suggestions, we will be happy to consider the suggested modifications.
We’d like to welcome Lisa Hoffer and Doug Fidler who were elected to the Board at the Oct 6, 2019 annual meeting. We are certain they will bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm and will work in conjunction with Linda Thompson, Pam O’Beirne and me to keep things running smoothly. We’d also like to thank Fred Muller and Peter Juanpere for their service on the board this past year. Their insights, experience and hard work have assisted the board in successfully dealing with matters that impact the community.
One stipulation of the revised documents prevents co-owners from serving on the board or committees simultaneously. Therefore, Stephanie Fidler will be stepping down from the ACC and Kelley Totaro will be stepping down as Secretary for the BoD. We’d like to thank them for their service this past year. In addition, we’d like to thank Candy Mashack and Joe Sgarrella for their work on the ACC as they are also stepping down. Those interested in being considered for a position on the ACC should notify the BoD at stoneleighbod@gmail.com as soon as possible.
Appreciation also goes out to: Scott Klimek for his time and expertise as our webmaster; Scott and Kathy Klimek for coordinating and erecting the sign to congratulate our High School graduates; Bob Mashack for his help with revamping the front entrance lights; Arnie Peccatiello, Doug Fidler, and Tom O’Beirne for their help in removing the excess stone generated in the stone wall reconstruction; and Calvin Chapman for having the tree stump ground down at the front entrance.
We think you will all agree that front entrance provides the first impression of our neighborhood. Over the past two years we have been able to replace the diseased Elm trees, rebuild the stone walls, refresh the landscaping and revamp the lighting on the community signs. Thank you for your support in these endeavors.
I’d like to take a moment to welcome our new neighbors who recently moved into the community and encourage them to find time to take part in committees and groups working with the BoD to make our community stronger.
Here is some important contact information for your reference: Loudoun County Sheriff NON-EMERGENCY phone number is 703-777-1021; for wild animals roaming through the neighborhood call Animal Control at 703-777-0406; for pick-up of animal remains along roadways, call VDoT at 800-367-7623 and for power outages, call Dominion Power at 866-366-4357.
