A massive well done to all of our participants in this years SL dance championships. You have all been working so hard over the last number of months and it showed on the night!
A big Congratulations also to our very own Marley who takes home the trophy for best overall performer in the S4-6 category #SDC2024 We are super proud!
Our S2 football team have been on a tremendous run this year. They recently won their quarterfinal match 2-1 and have progressed to play St.Andrews & St.Brides in the semi-finals (14/05/2024). Can they go all the way?
Please keep an eye out for any upcoming fixtures, or speak to the PE department.
Building on the legacy that Mr Shepherd has created, our Junior Rugby teams were in action on a number of occasions this month and last. It is great to see the progress that they are making and we will hopefully have more matches arranged this month.
Last month our S1’s competed in the West of Scotland basketball cup final. This was after playing 3 rounds in order to reach the final having played Hillpark, St Paul's, and Castlemilk High School. This is also the furthest that any team has ever progressed in the competition.
We played a strong team in Duncanrig, with many of our players starting basketball this year for the first time and we also were the only team on the day to field girls in our squad.
Final Score:
SHS 28-36 DHS
Despite the result all YP have been fantastic ambassadors for their school this year, and it was great to have so many pupils along to support (Shoutout to Junior who was on drums!).
We will go again next season !
We hope that young people had a fantastic time on their dance excursion to Edinburgh. Pupils were introduced to the cast beforehand as well as put through a dance workshop, before seeing the Musical Hamilton at the Edinburgh Playhouse.
All of the videos and pictures are on our Twitter page (there is a link on the homepage of this newsletter).
Thank you to Miss Syme for organising.
Please Welcome Mr Wilson who will be with us over the next 6 weeks.
What a day of Primary 7 basketball! All of our cluster primaries attended across two sessions, hosted by our S3 sports leadership group.
The sports leaders created their own teams from areas all across Scotland. Our overall winners were:
Skye & Troon
Perth & Aberdeen
Bute & St Andrew’s
There was so much talen on show, we can't wait to see you once again in August! It looks like the basketball team will once again be strong in season 2024/25.
Well done also to our amazing sports leaders for organising !
