The Climate Smart Communities (CSC) program is a voluntary New York State initiative that helps local governments reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to climate change, and access technical assistance and grant funding.

On March 10, 2026, the Town of Stockport resolved to adopt the NYS Climate Smart Communities Pledge and applied to become a registered Climate Smart Community. Donald Meltz was appointed by Supervisor Murell as the Climate Smart Coordinator for the town’s Climate Smart Communities Task Force. 

Once registered, the town can pursue Climate Smart Communities certification at its own pace by completing actions that earn points toward Bronze or Silver certification. The Task Force meets monthly at 6 pm before the regular Town Board Meetings (typically the 2nd Tuesday of the month) at the town hall on 2787 Atlantic Ave . Check the town calendar for actual dates.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote and support climate mitigation and adaption in the Town of Stockport and support the Stockport Town Board on initiatives that protect the town's environmental and economic resources, reduce energy costs. We aim to build a more resilient and sustainable future where all our community members are invited to participate and feel at home.
