Stock Buddy (“the app”) provides stock ticker lookup, market analysis, news summaries, and optional price/signal alerts.
Information We Collect
Stock Buddy does not require account creation and does not directly collect personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number.
The app may process the following information:
- Stock tickers you enter or select
- Alert preferences you create in the app
- Cached market analysis, signal results, and news summaries stored on your device
- Notification permission status
How Information Is Used
The app uses this information to:
- Search for ticker symbols
- Retrieve market data and related news
- Show analysis and signal results
- Save your selected ticker and alerts on your device
- Send local notifications if you enable alerts
Data Storage
Data such as selected tickers, saved alerts, cached signal results, and cached news summaries is stored locally on your device using local device storage. This data is not used to identify you personally.
Third-Party Services
To provide market and news functionality, the app may send stock ticker symbols or search queries to third-party data providers, including:
- Finnhub
- Yahoo Finance
These providers may receive the ticker symbols or search terms necessary to return market data, symbol suggestions, and news results. Please review their privacy policies for more information.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Stock Buddy may send local notifications on your device for saved alerts. Notification permission can be changed at any time in your device settings.
Data Sharing
Stock Buddy does not sell your personal data. The app only shares the minimum request data needed to retrieve market, symbol search, and news information from third-party providers.
Data Retention and Deletion
Locally stored app data remains on your device until you remove alerts, clear the app’s data, or uninstall the app.
Children’s Privacy
Stock Buddy is not directed to children under 13, and the app is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
