St. Michael’s Parish is a Catholic faith community serving the Interlake region through three worship sites: St. Michael’s Church (Gimli), Our Lady of the Lake (Winnipeg Beach), and St. Benedict’s (Camp Morton). Our parish exists to proclaim the Gospel, celebrate the sacraments, and build a welcoming community grounded in prayer, service, and fellowship.

St. Michael’s Church — Gimli

St. Michael’s Church is the parish hub in Gimli, serving the Interlake Catholic community with Mass, catechism, and parish life.

Our Lady of the Lake — Winnipeg Beach

Our Lady of the Lake serves the Winnipeg Beach community and is served by St. Michael’s Church, Gimli.

Historical note: A dedicated historical study documents the church’s founding and development from 1911 to 1956, reflecting deep roots in Winnipeg Beach and surrounding lakeshore communities.

St. Benedict’s Church — Camp Morton

St. Benedict’s is a cherished part of our parish story, closely tied to the historic Catholic presence at Camp Morton. It is also listed as served by St. Michael’s Church, Gimli.

Deep Roots at Camp Morton

Camp Morton developed in the early 1920s as a Roman Catholic summer camp for children, associated with the leadership and mission work of the Archdiocese in that era.
Archival records describe how the Camp Morton property supported Catholic community life, and planning for a church on-site began in the early 1920s. The first church building (known as St. Anthony’s in the archival description) burned in January 1933 and was replaced by St. Benedict’s, which was blessed in September 1933.
