About

The Italian-American Association began in 1993 with some definite goals in mind. These goals include the desire to foster an appreciation of Italian culture among St. Mel's parishioners, to provide opportunities for traditional Italian observances of both a spiritual and cultural nature, and to work with other parish groups to promote the well-being of the Saint Mel's family. 

The Association also maintains a direct link to the Italian Apostolate of the Brooklyn Diocese. The Association participates in fundraising activities of the parish and raises money through its events to support our Church, school, and other worthy causes. 

Among the events sponsored yearly are the Columbus Day Dinner Dance, Christmas and Epiphany parties, Masses on the Feasts of St. Joseph in March and St. Anthony in June. Other activities have also included opera performances, pilgrimages, and trips to museums and casinos. 

Membership is open to all parishioners. You do not need to be Italian to share in the companionship and charitable works of the Association.
